I have not been following the story for a few years (I still can't believe it's still going on) but what are the chances that the yotes get an arena vs relocation?

Yes, when and where are definitely connected and with that in mind I'm going to guess they will either move to New Tokyo, Megapolis 7 or a mining colony on Io.

Yeah, this team's not going to be in Arizona by the end of the decade. Got to wonder if the league is looking at the Seattle arena situation and may pull the plug on the team based upon that. Something's got to give there soon.

Io has ice. Good ice. And miners love their hockey. Copper Country in Michigan. Iron Range in Minn. Sudbury, etc.

Bettman: "The financials don't work for the Coyotes to play on Earth. We need a public-private partnership with NASA to put a colony on Io, or we'll have to look at 'other things.'"

Did Kansas City ever end up being an option since they have the Sprint Center or has that always been and still is a dead option because of no ownership group wanting them there and lack of fan interest?

... again as has been the case for years, the Mayor & Council not willing to provide a sweetheart lease nor subsidies of anyknd be it the NHL or the NBA & given the market itself effectively taking themselves out of the running. The Sprint turns a modest profit with concerts & events, and having watched whats happened elsewhere smply not a road they wish to embark upon.

Sounds like they're smarter than the average bear (or average city council at least)

Yeah, the incumbent & long serving Mayor Sly James extremely popular though the target of some pretty stiff & nasty criticism by his detractors. Up for reelection in June & almost a certainty to prevail. Straight shooter. When asked about the NHL or NBA & Sprint Centre once replied with something along the lines of "sure, we'd love for a team to come, just dont come here looking for any subsidies or sweetheart deals, and they'd better be winners otherwise I dont like their chances of success".... Language like that the last thing an NHL or NBA ownership group wants to hear or read.

It's good to see a municipality being fiscally responsible for a change. However, I guess it's a little easier when you're not trying to prevent a team from leaving your city.

That'd be the NHL's first choice. But if that doesn't happen, it looks like their second choice can be found in the lyrics of an earlier, shorter-lived TV show called Here Come the Brides.
