Surprised at lack of info considering he won't be back. Blood clot?

Between him and (apparently) Fisher this is just stunning. Don't know how to spin anything positive out of it. It was a great run and you know the boys will not stop battling til the end. We'll see just how good our top 4 is in short order, it's all on them and Peks now.

Throw caution to the wind. Sissons, Jarnkrok, Kamenev, Trenin down the middle for the win!

PAP and Fiddler had their day, give a young player a chance at some playoff experience.

Almost comical, eh? Somebody who spent most of their time in Milw this year is gonna step up...... Maybe Aberg. Maybe Gaudreau. Maybe Willy to C?

I'm not ready to cave on this yet. We may have to play Ottawa hockey, but they have managed to shut down Sid and Malkin with a team that's not as good as we can ice even without Joey.

In all seriousness, let's say you're the Preds coaching staff.

What do you do here?

You know you have arguable the best d-corp in the league. You know you have players that can still score. How do you game at this point?

I'm not hockey strategy savvy enough to really know what the play is here at this point.

Posted this in the observations thread before this one was created-but couldn't you make the argument that RYJO would be the one player we could least afford to lose of our entire roster?? I think even Rinne wouldn't be above him.

Just awful.

And apparently he did have the surgery last night- I find it pretty incredible that they were able to keep this so quiet for so long.

We don't really have much in terms of scoring though. Since the Hawks series it has basically been Johansen, Neal, Forsberg and the D. Just totally at a loss for what we can do. We'd probably get killed but I would try to go with as much speed and skill as we have left (including the Ads) and try to dump a goal or three on them early and see if we can just skate them to death from there.

I have no idea. Call up centers and see what sticks. I'm looking at the depth chart I have and I have no clue. Gaudreau, Kamenev, after that eh....

I would want an emphasis on defense and passing and put the scoring on the wings.

All honesty, this will be a game if won, goes to the coach.

I'm wondering if speed is the trick as well. If we can turtle long enough, and frustrate them into penalties, one might argue that we could still have a decent chance to score on the PP if we can get our D men some chances.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm not giving up all hope because frankly I don't think the Ducks are that great overall. Their strength (C) is now our complete weakness but can we find a way to counter that via our strength (D)?

There is still a lot of skill on this roster and we know Rinne has it in him to give the team a chance. Will be interesting to see either way.

He relapsed back to alcohol. I doubt he's in any condition physically but especially mentally to play right now.

I had avoided the boards and all sports websites all day... and then my son texts me this kick in the nuts.

Had to be a hematoma, or else a soft tissue injury so bad that they had to do whats called a fasciotomy to release the pressure caused by the swelling

Flyers fan coming in peace to offer sympathy. Most Flyers fans are on the Predators bandwagon due to the Laviolette connection and the fact that Nashville feels like the best chance at preventing a 2nd consecutive Cup for the ****-birds.

This really sucks. Any idea how he sustained the injury? Did Kesler sneak a switchblade onto the ice and slice the artery in his leg open?

Can Josi play Center?

If we continue with the physical play I just don't see how we can compete up front. Only thing I can think is just fast and relentless forecheck to disrupt their breakouts and force them into mistakes, similar to how we did the Hawks. Ducks have a much better puck handling D though.

I really am searching for a way to be positive after receiving this gut punching news but I can't. We are done. It was fun while it lasted. Assuming Fish has a concussion w are looking at Jarnkrok, Sissons, Fids, Gaudreau VS Getzlaf, Kesler, Vermette, Thompson. I'm just shocked right now and feel sick.

Call up Trevor Murphy and put him at forward. The last time the Admirals did that was a game in California and he got 6 points (3G, 3A)
