Roenick fractures ankle (out for season)

Sounds like he's done. Sorry JR, feel sorry for the injury, but not sorry that you can't play. Take your $5 mil and pack your bags.

Unfortunately, it's not that big of a loss. Roenick has scored some big goals before, but it's been a tough season.

The one thing about Roenick though, he got hurt twice by blocking a shot. That has to count for something.

Emmanuel Goldstein!

Well, when you look at the grand picture, Roenick was never really suited for Andy Murray's style of play (after thinking about this for a while).

I know I keep making excuses for him, but there is no way he all of a sudden forgot how to play -- he lit it up on opening night. If the Kings play this kind of wide open style and he comes back next year I feel he can excel.

Are we allowed to have him play on the salary that we paid him with this year... cause if he played for free...

It looks like SportsTicker jumped the gun. According to today's L.A. Times, Roenick "will undergo an MRI exam and CT scan today to determine its severity." So, the official prognosis is still to be determined.

As soon as it's official that he's done for the season, break out the dancing bananas.

From today's LA Times article:
"I would like to be back, but there's not a chance they want me back next year," Roenick said. It's obvious Roenick's talking about the HF Boards forum posters here.

I'm gonna give the thread a "4th", but some part of me really wanted to see him in playoff mode. That might've been the only place for him to redeem himself for this disasterous season. The world may never know...

JR OUT FOR THE SEASON???

I'm running throughout the whole house naked screaming Tom Petty at the top of my lungs...

"...and we're free.... freefallin'.
...and we're free.... freefallin'."

.
.
.
ok so I'm not, but I thought about it.

When it comes to Jeremy, I don't know what to say. The guy was very good along time ago and know he's just....

I'd rather see a young guy up there instead, seriously! I think it's been so bad for him, even he doesn't know how to B.S. he's way out of this one. He was suppose to be the face of this team at the beginning. Making appearences, signing autographs after the game, doing interviews, creating a buzz for hockey in L.A. What happened?

Back to the desert for JR.

Or to the overpaid veteran wasteland: Columbus

I think he should sign with TO next season, play as ****** as he has for us, and have the media crush him and run him into retirement.

Well......I'd sign him for $500,000....or what is that veterans minimum pay? I mean for the minimum I guess I'd keep him for entertaining purposes, who knows?

That would be a waste of $500,000 and a waste of paper to have his signature on a contract. That money would be better spent on a player who would at the very least show up to play every night and give more than the 60-percent Roenick has claimed to be at.

This is a player who openly talked about being on the verge of retirement with a countless amount of concussions. Why waste a roster spot on him? It's not like he has much left in him.

And you don't want to embarrass the guy like what Tampa Bay did with Dave Andreychuk, assigning the guy to the minors for the first time in his career, pretty much forcing him to retire.

What a waste of a signing. JR needs to follow in the footsteps of Messier, Stevens, MacInnis, and the like.

Not out for the season according to AP (Kings notes:

'Kings C Jeremy Roenick is expected to be out two weeks after chipping a bone in his ankle while blocking a shot during a win over Nashville Saturday. He could be back for the final three games')

see AP

Can the thread heading be revised now?

The L.A. Times sort of contradicted that by saying in today's issue:

Maybe he might be able to play in two weeks if he can stand the pain. That would satisfy both versions more or less, but who knows.
