It's hardly surprising.

The entire theme of our team was changed to "Red" since Scotiabank bought our arena.

Everything is red now.

Sorry.

BTW, Washington did the White-Out thing back in the 80's in the playoffs as well.

Ottawa also gave out free towels (white) to wave. I've always liked the effect it generated. If they do it again this year, I suppose they could be red towels.

Do you think it will happen "naturally" like when Calgary started it or will the arena's have to give out shirts like in Tampa?

BTW, Winnipeg stole it from Calgary in the 80's... So I heard anyway.

So if fans pile into the streets to watch and support their team, they are suddenly copying the Flames?

I don't thinkso.

Remember, the Flames have owned the playoffs for the past decade.

Typical HFboards banter--not only did a bunch of people wearing the same color have to be a hockey innovation, it had to be your favorite team's innovation.

I think that soccer hooligans have been doing it long before the 1980s.

Not only that, but the colours red, white, black and yellow are now property of the Calgary Flames Ownership Group.

I guess the Senators will have to go with the always stylish Teal, Green, Brown and Orange combination! WOO!

Calgary seems awfully defensive of the fruits of their city's labour.

It's a good thing Edmonton isn't like that, or else half of the Flames would be toast:
Iginla, Phaneuf, Ference, Langkow, Lundmark, Hulse were all born in edmonton

Not to mention the two former Oilers on their team:

Hamrlik and Marchment

Come to think of it, I don't want Calgary trying to copy Edmonton by putting our players in their jersey. So here's your stern warning Calgary, return our players, and don't think of copying Edmonton again

Untill recently, teal wass the only publicly owned colour left in sports. That's why every expansion team in every sport during the 1990's was teal.

Ducks, Sharks, Grizzlies, Hornets, Marlins, Panthers, Jaguars, etc, etc

Around the turn of the millenium the colour black was auctioned off from the estate of Michael Jackson. A joint venture between the Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, and Calgary Flames successfully bought the contract. They've been a bunch of lame-o's ever since.

True story.

Most of the Sea of Red actually had jersey's on, that's commitment, unlike these crappy free t-shirts like Philadelphia and Winnipeg.

Amazing how a board full of fans wanting to preserve the purity of the game by eliminating the shootout, etc., can have so many preoccupied with the loudest arena, who stole the others' towels, and similar irrelevant, stupid promotions they've been blindly sucked into.
