For one I wouldn't be ruling out a buyout re: Orpik, which apparently isn't going to happen.

It's just concerning that MacLellan and Trotz seem to have a huge disconnect regarding the team's past weighing them down and also the fact that MacLellan wants to get younger with a coach that has never been able to nurture young talent, especially at forward.

I'm not in favor of blowing it up completely but they definitely need a re-tool and it didn't sound like they were going to even do that. Just give it another go and pray for the best. That's not really good enough IMO. He mentioned that they were building up to that Game 7 for 3 years and lost in terrible fashion, and the response is...to do nothing?

I'm not convinced there isn't a coach out there better than Trotz. Do the hard work and find one.

No he ain't. He is top five. Playing ring around rosey with the puck around the net and doing nothing with it is unacceptable. Thats all he did. That might work in the regular season, but not in the playoffs. And he has had enough time to figure that out.

Hold people accountable, but no major changes? Um, ok.

He might be 5th, that puts him well down on my current list of concerns.

One of the few guys outperforming his contract today. I saw a team of perimeter players in the playoffs, not just Mojo.

Djoos, Bowey, some cheap UFA? Honestly Alzner leaving isn't a big deal.

Gmbm very critical of Ovechkin, saying his game must evolve to become faster

We had a bunch of guys who outperformed this season. The fact is this. When you get the news that OV is hurt, its your job to step up. That second line lacked a set if you know what i mean. Kuzy stepped up big but not until it was too late. Williams was the only one who gave a **** in EVERY Game.

Williams giving a damn doesn't mean he outperformed his deal, but ok I'll include him.

Kuzy was a disappointment, until what 1/3 into the season? Then he turned it around. I'd call that a wash at best.

Orlov, Connolly, Mojo, Schmidt, Oshie, maybe Williams/Winnik. That's it for my list of guys who clearly outperformed their salary.

And he acknowledges they'll do the 7-3-1 protection plan for the expansion, so that most likely means Schmidt will be exposed. Wonder if he's had discussions with LV and GMGM. You know we'll all hoping that GMGM selects Orpik, after all that's the least he can do for this franchise after the Forsberg fiasco.

They're all hurt. It's a BS line of reasoning to make excuses for any player over another who is dressed and playing a regular shift.

It isn't . You arn't going to get perfect shots in the playoffs. Defense are tighter, goalies are more focused. If Kuzy and Mojo want to play that kind of hockey, you tell them to make the all star game this year. But they can't rely on that kind of hockey come playoff time. You have a shot, any shot, then ****ing take it. Don't pass to get the "perfect shot". I feel like they wasted so many opportunities doing that.

So the only coach they're losing is the only coach worth keeping?

MacLellan talked a lot about Burakovsky. Said he'll be top six next season. Added that RFAs will get more ice time. Will fill in young guys.

Neither firing nor extending Trotz reeks of ownership not being willing to spend on coaching.

Mojo is the big problem? The guy who scored the only two goals the team got in game 6 against the Leafs?

I'm no Mojo defender, but this is a weird time to pick on him.
