Interested to see how the Ducks situation plays out. One of Bob Murray or McPhee will look like they made a bad call at the end of XD. Either GMBM lost Vatanen or a promising young prospect for nothing or McPhee was too nice and accomodating and did not extract the value he could have out of the Anaheim organisation.
I am guessing top prospect + the cap dump of Stoner + a 2018 1st round pick. GMBM loves his Silf like TNSE loves their Lowry and will bend over to Protect. The Ducks edge is they have an embarrassment of riches on D so they can absorb the hit.

Yikes how the mighty have fallen. So with the rumors of EK9 being shopped Buffalo assets from that trade are in free fall (pending potential results of the Kane trade). Hard for me to see the results of the poll with Zach I always loved the guy but it just shows the importance of hockey IQ and a proper development path.

Also keep in mind that the reason most want him exposed is his contract, not his play (although I realise that the two are related)

2 Million not much of a jump.

2014-2015 the cap went up by 4.7 M but since then seems to have stayed in the 2M ish range.

Vegas will have a pretty solid team. The roster already looks better than many teams, wouldn't be surprised if they challenge for the playoffs. Could even end up ahead of the Jets if the Jets don't get their act together.

Code:
Neal - Shipachev - Perron
Cammalleri - Marchessault - Dano
Hagelin - Grigorenko - Stempniak
Raffl - Shinkaruk/UFA - Anderson

Hamhuis - Vatanen*
De Haan - Dumba
McNabb - Bogo

Grubauer
Subban
Raanta

Healthy scratches: Brendan Dillon, Ville Pokka, Reid Boucher

*Assuming the Ducks deal with Vegas is to take Vatanen to leave Manson alone

Can't tell if you're serious.

That forward group is very weak.

Which teams have a worse roster than that?

Unless I'm mistaken, their best scoring forward would be our 7th best scoring player. They also don't have a first pairing. In fact, the only place they may have teams beat, IMO, is the goaltending.

Like their D and goaltending but what happened to MAF?

That top 12 isn't taking them to the playoffs.

I agree that something like Theodore (or a similar prospect), a first (be it 2017 or 2018), and Stoner (which might help both sides) could be enough to sway LV.

Now what happens if Tor or Wpg came calling with an even better package for Manson or Vatanen. Can LV go back to Ana saying they have to sweeten the pot, or do you think its a done deal? Some of the stuff I've heard suggests he has deals that can stilll be revisited if there is enough interest expressed for a certain player by other clubs

I think a deal is a deal unless flexibility was baked into the original agreement. As long as there was transparency and GMGM is within the parameters of the deal then its all good. He will not want to burn bridges though.

Has to tell you something when they protect Beaulieu who they acquired for a 3RD rounder & leave Bogo exposed. Sure salary concerns & age are a factor, but Bogo sure must have slipped.

I think if a team has a deal wth LV and arranges their protections accordingly it had better be a 'done deal'. Or we're going to have NHL teams suing each other.

I think there is a legal framework in place for deals to be done, but based on some comments made by GMGM earlier today it sound like everything is a bit flexible. It struck me as very strange, but there may actually be a bit of room for silliness.

You know, there is precedent for people who cheat in Vegas ending up somewhere in the desert, never to be found.

I totally wanted this team to be called the Las Vegas Bugsy Siegels. Zoot suit uniforms, home team entering the rink by bursting through a gigantic Fedora, 50s kitsch scoreboard. It writes itself.

they wont be embarrassed during the season, but they'll still kinda suck

If the NHL really wanted them to get off to a good start, they would have let them draft starting in the second round last year.

Can't see that team beating out anyone in the west for even a wild card spot.

Some solid players, but nobody that can bust a game open... maybe Shipachev? Landing Radulov would be interesting, and may put them into a discussion, but I do believe you need game changing players in addition to solid team play to be in the mix. The Knights just won't have a lot of that, most likely. I'm expecting them to have a lot of of hard-fought losses, where Seguin, McDavid, FeFe, Kucherov, etc. are just difference makers in the end.

If he plays anywhere, it will be a team that went far this year.

This is the only other interesting scenario - it would be cool if the last original Jet came back.
