Avs Proposals/Rumors/Free Agents 2016-17 Part XXII

Let's see if we get a trade in this thread. Once the Cup ends I think I'll put up a expansion festivities thread, just FYI.

Have a feeling we're gonna be waiting for another draft-day trade

I see a few Edmonton fans (and a few bloggers) pushing this idea of an Eberle for Barrie trade. I guess they have given up any pretense of caring about the trade fit with the other team.

I'd prefer to just enjoy the draft for what it is but I guess I'll take it if it gets us an extra pick.

What happened to RNH for Barrie?

Eberle is not worth his salary and plays very soft. Gets his points, but disappears when pressured. RNH plays good D and worked well with Mackinnon during the WCH and needs a change.

Yeah, RNH at least makes some sense, not very much, but more than Eberle.

I think it's just that Edmonton what's to get rid of Eberle, and they've deluded themselves into believing they can do that and fill a major need for them at the same time. I just can't imagine Eberle has all that much value.

Not one-sided enough now that the Oilers made the playoffs and are god tier.

No surprise there. It's not the end of the world, as long as Bednar plays him like 17 minutes a night. Might even be able to get a pick for him at the deadline if he rebounds, and doesn't play much.

Going to be a battle to make the team though.

Zadorov-EJ
Beauchemin-Barrie
Barberio-Mironov
Bigras-Lindholm

Unless Barrie is traded and/or Barberio is claimed in the draft.

No surprise but there is an immense lack of reality. His spot should be filled by Lindholm, Bigras, or Meloche and instead he'll be in the line up. We could lose Andrighetto of Barberio because of him. That is stupid asset management.

I hope it's because he agreed to waive but I'm not surprised at all.

I hope that's not true. Nothing says younger and faster like bringing back a 37 year old who can't skate, pass, or defend. He's finished as a player and I doubt he's much of a help off the ice either.

Maybe he accepted to waive his NMC for a guarentee that the AVS won't buyout? Maybe. Clasping at straws here.

My thought too. He's gotta know he won't be picked. When do those protection lists come out?

If Beauchemin was such a leader, he would waive his NMC and take the minimal risk of being claim to benefit the team.

AVS have no reason to buy out Beauchemin. We have enough protection slots and we have a lack of NHL players. We're not going to pay someone for not playing.

Fans are mad that Beauchemin plays too much so they think it makes sense to buy him out. Not happening.

We have all the cap room in the world to pay off Beauchemin for one year. We could lose one of Andrighetto or Barberio if we don't buy out Beauchemin. I get that neither Barb or Andri are key parts to being a championship team but risking one of them to protect an old slow D-man makes zero sense. It is a fireable offense.

We might not be able to trade him at the deadline because of the NMC.

Never really expected a buyout to happen. Still holding hope that he'll simply waive. If he refuses to waive he might be the NHL player I disrespect the most.
