I know not everyone feels that way but Vilardi is the real deal to me. I was looking in the ISS draft guide today from 2015 and they had the top 30 for 2017 in it and Vilardi was ranked #2. The consistency of being able to hold up as a top prospect over that time is not easy and not many do.

I would also love to somehow get out of this draft with both Vilardi and Valimaki but I would think both BUF and WIN will be going after Valimaki. They both have a strong need for a LHD.

Any combination of Vilardi/Glass and Valimaki/Makar/Foote will be great for me.

I agree. Think vilardi has same talent level as patrick without the injury question marks plus is almost a full year younger. If vilardi was a better skater theres a real good shot he goes first

The OP poll needs the "hopefully" choice. Can't vote with the current options.

I'll be a happy camper if we somehow get Heiskanen/(Vilardi if Heiskanen is gone) and Foote (Heiskanen + Foote = two top four D, droooool) and Yamamoto somehow drops to #32 and we take him. If not him, Oettinger then.

Before someone says "zomg Avs don't draft dwarfs": they we're going to pick (at least considered it) Adam Mascherin instead of Cam Morrison last summer. I don't have link for this statement but I remember Hepple saying something that pretty much confirmed this. Edit. Here: https://www.nhl.com/avalanche/video/...098/c-44299803

Also, I don't doubt that Avs would draft D with their pick (chose wrong poll option, should had clicked 1st option). They have already shown that they have changed their draft philosophy: Fin with 10th overall, BCHL guy with 10th overall, picking Russians etc.

I really, really hope we draft D-man with or first pick. Would be great if we fiished with Heiskanen and then Foote for a pick from Duchene trade (if it happens). I think we are desperate to have some home-grown d-men.

The last choice in the poll was funny so I went with that.

Although you are correct about Mascherin, remember that along with his 5'9" he is also 200lbs. Huge difference with Yamamoto who is 146lbs.

Yeah the MEM Cup, along with some of you guys and your opinions have made me love Vilardi a little more. I had him on par with Tippett throughout the OHL playoffs but he's pulled ahead for me.

Is there a chance Vilardi makes the NHL next season? Not that it has any bearing on who I'd want the Avs to pick.

A small chance if he takes power skating lessons all summer. Rather see him back in Windsor though.

Yeah I don't think he will be but there's always a couple surprises every year.

Vilardi is still probably a few years away at least from starting in the NHL so isnít a player that would be suiting up in Victory Green next year.

IMO Vilardi is a player that should absolutely go back to juniors, especially if you want him to develop as a center. Physically and mentally, he could probably play wing in the NHL now, but I don't think it would be good for his development.

I still wonder how Vilardi fits with this team. Do you develop him as a center? Or do we stick with Jost at center and go Mack - Jost - Compher.

FWIW, I've resigned myself to Vilardi/Heiskanen, whichever one is there at 4.

Send Vilardi back to junior and let him dominate some more ala Draisaitl, only don't wait half the season like the idiotic Oilers did.

I think Vilardi is more of a wing personally, but a team will likely try to develop him as a center. If he can develop there, his value goes through the roof. Big, smart, 2 way centers don't grow on trees.

I wouldn't get too attached to Vilardi, rumors are out there that he isn't the Avs' guy at 4. They are just rumors and around this time of the year, it just could be smokescreen... I just wouldn't pin hopes on the Avs selecting him.

A few years is a really long time for a forward, even for one of the youngest in the draft. But, I guess, him being the youngest means he still has two more years in the CHL, correct? I would like to see him in the AHL for a season.

O god please let us take heiskanen then. If we pass on vilardi without it being heiskanen im going to be pretty annoyed

Yea, I agree with you. Get Vilardi back to Jrs. where he'll be a key feature of the team, get a lot of games and playing time to work on his skating and getting comfortable at C. He's a guy I'd bring along a bit slower, just so he can work out the kinks in his game.

Lol just waiting for the draft where Patrick, Hischier, and Vilardi are taken top-3 and the Avs step up at 4 and select Klim Kostin.

Wouldnt shock me. Think as avs fans we always have to hope for the best but really expect the very worst with this management

Haha, I don't disagree. I've been let down too many times with this current management, and know I shouldn't get my hopes up too high.

It'll be like the 2012 draft when I wanted Colton Sissons, saw him drop...and then the Avs pick Mitch Heard. Only this time it'd be catastrophically worse.
