What do you guys think the Oil would have to add to their first to get up to say 8-10 if Makar was still around?? Or does Makar slip to 15 cause he played AJ? It happens every year, a highly ranked DMan slipping, and I see the lower competition being a BIG caution sign... But I like the guy and his offence.

I'd easily do 22nd pick + 1st round pick in 2018 + Bear/Jones. Makar goes top 10 easily imo. Huge fan of this kid. Reminds me a little bit of Provorov

So...Bob McKenzies final draft rankings was posted prematurely on the TSN website earlier and was later taken down but I managed to screenshot them before going down.

Here's the link to the full rankings: http://imgur.com/a/9tvzU

Ranked in our range at 16-31 are:

16. Timothy Liljegren
17. Eeli Tolvanen

26. Jake Oettinger
27. Isaac Ratcliffe
28. Conor Timmins
29. Erik Brannstrom
30. Jason Robertson
31. Filip Chytil

Also looks like some interesting and unexpected names will be available for our 3rd round picks:

76. Dmitri Samorukov
77. Adam Ruzicka

78. Jack Rathbone
79. Ivan Lodnia
80. Jonas Rondbjerg
81. Mario Ferraro

I like Callan Foote in the first round. Cant go wrong with guys like that. I see the types of forwards we are looking for as best signed from NCAA free agent opportunities.

Salo seems pretty low.

I like Crotty for no apparent reason. Can skate. Will go to Boston. Supposedly has dominated at times but coming from a weaker league.

Yeah, Salo is pretty low, but personally I have him very low too. Just not a fan of him. I would not use a pick on him in the first two rounds, maybe not in the 3rd either. Nothing exciting about his game at all. Low upside type pick. I think Markus Phillips plays a similar type game, but is a significantly better skater and has more upside.

I wonder if Chia would look to trade up in the 1st instead of trading down. Moving one of our 3rd's to move up a few spots in the 1st could land us a guy like Liljegren or Tolvanen. That'd be pretty cool.

Soli and I managed to grab Lias Andersson, Mack Entwistle and Morgan Geekie with the Oilers 1st and 3rds in the mod board mock draft.

Should we send our resumes into the team?

1) Short players like Gaudreau, Johnson, Gallagher had doubts on their size, since they started playing hockey. All 3 have been great players for their respective teams.
2) Yamamoto has connections with Johnson's family. Apparently Johnson's mom helped him learn to skate, and he works out with Johnson during the summer which is already a +.
3) He had an excellent combine and managed to reach top 10 in several of the tests.
4) Bob Stauffer was impressed with him after the interview.
5) Fits the 'Oilers have size, but are in need of speed + skill' which Yamamoto fits.

My vote goes to Yamamoto.
It's funny how not 2 years ago, we were all small and skill, and now we have size and need more skill lol. But sign me up for this kid, I think it's the proper time to supplement our size with some speed and skill

I was getting a lil crazy and was going to PM you this morning second guessing the Geekie pick, was going to suggest we take Artyom Minulin instead, but thought this was the better route. Our picks were easy decisions I felt, rather clear and fairly unanimous.

I'd be pretty happy with this draft, would have liked a defenseman in there but none really popped, and we felt the forwards that were left around our 3rds were good options to bring into the pool. I'm not as sold as some are on Geekie, but late in the 3rd is value for him. I think Entwistle is a 2nd/high 3rd, so I think we were both happy to snatch him here. Could be a real good looking pick in a few years. Both Geekie and Entwistle being righties made me feel appeased about taking a lefty forward with the first.

I love Lias Andersson as a prospect and didn't think we'd be in a position to grab him with a pick in the 20s, but he's dropping in the recent mock drafts I've see around here, which may be a touch of North American bias, but thats aside. He doesn't do anything particularly flashy, but he's a competitive player that can flat out play, can take awkward passes and shoot from peculiar positions. Plays don't go to die on his stick. Preferably looking for a right handed forward, but will definitely make an exception for Lias.

Parayko played in the AJ, so doesn't really mean a ton to me, just your basic high risk/reward offensive dman

Bobby Macs list is out, and it is the same as the leaked one:

http://www.tsn.ca/hischier-rides-met...nking-1.783025
http://www.tsn.ca/mckenzie-s-draft-r...tions-1.778987

Found this part interesting:
Quote:
That big-swing trend is evident throughout TSN's Final Top 31 ranking, notably for Owen Sound forward Nick Suzuki (No. 27 to 12); London forward Robert Thomas (No. 30 to 21); U.S. U-18 forward Josh Norris (No. 60 to 23); Swedish defenceman Erik Brannstrom (No. 45 to 29); Kingston forward Jason Robertson (No. 48 to 30); and Czech forward Filip Chytil (No. 71 to 31).
Basically all the guys that have been favorites of mine for months now (with the exception of Norris) have been bumped up on the lists of actual NHL scouts. Kind of funny to see that.

Im a big fan of his, but realistically I just can't seem him going in the first. There's never been a player drafted in the first round who was under 5'9.
