Congrats Ron Hainsey

Is Hainsey the first ex-jet of 2.0 to won the cup?

Johnny Oduya. Both d-men [mod] deemed "weren't good enough" for the Jets.

Too expensive to play as a #5 at that time

Yes congrats to Ron.

Well deserved playoff run. He played a big part imo.

Hainsey had the second most minutes of any Pens D man in the Cup winning game 6 but Ol'Chevy let him walk for nothing with his assessment that Stuart was a better D man~!

Congrats to Hainsey, nice way to cap off a NHL career!~

Contract was up, probably would've been too expensive to sign back, he likely wouldn't have wanted to come back with the state the team was in then, etc.

But but but Oduya had a bad first game!

And Hainsey showed too much gumption fulfilling his responsibilities as Union head!

I was happy for Johnny when he won and I'm happy for Ron (and Lynk) this year.

He was a pending UFA and unlikely to re-sign with the Jets so they traded him for picks. [mod]

The pitchforks would have been out if they had resigned him.
Likely would have taken 3 million plus.
He was coming off a 4.5 million dollar contract.
In 2 years with us he never scored a goal; despite HF Jets predicting 6 goals every night. But in his attempts to play "second goalie" he deflected dozens of goals into our net.

Really happy for him that he won but not resigning Hainsey is insanely low down the list of potential mistakes we have made.

Congratulation to Hainsey and Lynk

I hope you guys congratulate me as well when Burmistrov wins his first cup <3 ... cough.

Regarding the thread talk: Hainsey was never deemed "not good enough" but when he turned UFA, he just wanted to much money while we already had a top-4 D set up with Buff, Toby, Bogo and Trouba just coming up. Nobody was to blame here.

Oduya WAS considered "not good enough" but to be fair, his last season as a Jet was an absolute disaster. And it's not like he was a key part for the Blackhawks and he hasn't turned head since joining the Stars either.

Congrats to Hainsey! I always liked him and was sorry to see him go. In fairness to the Jets, teams were not lining up to sign Ron. It wasn't until September that Carolina picked him up on a 1 year deal and his salary was less than half what the Jets paid him.

Yea good recap GJF. Johnny had a rough season by his standards here and was not coming back and we got assets for him. I think Ron wanted to move on as well and I am thinking the team did to for the reasons you have laid out. Pretty sure there weren't deals there to be had with either guy and I don't recall anyone here complaining at the time so any *****ing and moaning now unless one is being sarcastic is a bit revionist to say the least.

There is a lesson to be learned though when "our board" are all *****ing about the Pizza man or The Hains backing into Pavs sometimes these guys.....wait for it.......aren't quite as bad as we make them out to be. You know they both played strong rolls on cup winning teams in the top 4 of the D cores. They may not have been the core pieces but they supported pretty dam well.

Hey I am happy both guys got a cup I know Ron got a bad rap for being the union enforcer but I have heard a few local media guys say Ron was really smart, funny, and an engaging guy.

Mostly I am happy for that nomad Lynk more than anything.....followed the Hains around and watched him play for years on some pretty ****** teams and now the bugger gets to party with the cup. Lynk we may need one selfie with you and the cup for a good chuckle.

There was a XL Hainsey jersey at River City Sports for $40... I regret not buying it.

There's a subliminal message behind this win. Penguins, a flightless bird confined to a cold antarctic climate wins the freaking Stanley Cup! against an adversary identified as "predators" a creature actively seeking out prey.

Not how I remember it. He had made it known that he was leaving ASAP. Chevy got decent value for him, at least if Poolman works out. The rest of the return became Lipon, Lodge and Kostalek. So it is up to Poolman.

Wasn't Oduya in the Hawks second pairing during their second Cup win? I remember him paired with Hjalmarsson and playing huge minutes.
