No complaints, glad things can get rolling now. Bring on the draft.

Totally forgot to mention McCabe, who has experience playing for Housley as head coach. A couple more steps forward for him and he'll lock in as our #2.

Does anyone else remember Housley playing center under Bowman? It was always a debate in those days whether Housley should be a center or a defenseman.

Anything is better than dump and chase Bylsma. Do we have any idea what kind of system he'll implement? I guess we'll find out at the press conference.

Hidden positive, maybe this makes Buffalo a destination in the near future for players like R. Ellis who has two years left on his contract.

Botterill is already on record as planning an uptempo system, I'm sure Housley only has the job if they're in agreement on that point. No more grinding, no more "defense is all that matters", no more sitting back on a two or three goal lead...that will be much more interesting and appealing hockey to watch and is far better suited for the players we have.

After this run in the postseason, I think Nashville might be the most desirable place for a player to land in the league.

Housley thought this was how defense should play before there were fancy stats.

I firmly believe he is on the cutting edge of what the NHL is going to be.

I'm looking forward to some 7-3 wins in our future. It's been a long time sitting in the dark waiting for the team to do something.

Are we talking Makar or Seth Jones/Aaron Ekblad? He's a stud no doubt, but this isn't a can't miss franchise D we are talking about.

just saying it could become a destination for players. No doubt Nashville is the more attractive option right now.

I feel like we have a good reputation around the league at this point, with O'Reilly and Okposo both willingly signing with us. It's a far cry from the dark ages under Golisano/Quinn when absolutely no one with a choice wanted anything to do with Buffalo.

Don't forget Moulson. Willingly signed with the team at its lowest point.

Having both Botteril and Housley both in the mix now bring the Sabres franchise instant credibility. Seem like two very respected guys in the hockey community... well, except Housley vs Rob Ray apparently.

Mike Foligno arrived in Buffalo a year before Housely was drafted. Barrasso came the next year, I think. I can imagine the challenge Foligno had with Barrasso's and Housely's egos...

For that term and money it wasn't a hard choice...

Assistant coaches are going to be super important for him considering he's a rookie. Let's hope he gets some competent and experienced ones, and that Botterill doesn't have any uncles he needs to hooks up.

I like the idea of Capuano as an assistant very much, I think that will be a good situation.
