Buffalo has absolutely zero exposed forwards that they will miss (unless they do something silly like protect Ennis or Moulson).

How does it change anything with the forwards? We were probably going to protect 7 forwards before this trade. If we expose Beaulieu or Bogo we still protect 7 forwards.

Maybe it helps protect a Carrier/Girgensons/Larsson who is left unprotected due to new regimes potential belief in a Moulson and/or Ennis.

I have to think Botterill is smarter than that.

EDIT: Im basing that on his rep is as a capologist. That and the fact that the world will not end if Carrier is taken.

reading Montreal's board it seems he's got a documented reputation for being a knucklehead off the ice. But worth the risk of a 3rd round pick.

Yeah, that's been around for some time and was pointed out by a friendly Hab fan in the start of this thread. It was also what Moskau was hinting at with Beaulieu and his father having had a publicized altercation.

You're suggesting they'd trade a 3rd to NOT lose Dealauriers???

Please tell me that's a typo

I'll be doing backflips if the player we lose is Des. He is a horrible hockey player.

I think the Moulson Ennis talk is bait to trick Vegas into thinking maybe one of them is actually still decent.

I highly doubt that's the case.

People still have faith in Bogosian? Guy gives the puck away constantly you see a goal against the Sabres he's typically the one giving it away or not even playing defense.

Habs fan,

Beaulieu is a good puck moving D, his speed is his best asset, nice fluid skating, which gives him a respectable 2-way game, though his D game is only decent. He has good vision, but nothing exceptional, his shot is a bit underwhelming, good accuracy, but lacks a bit of power. Can be used on the 2nd PP and 2nd PK as well, he is a solid 5 D that can still develop his game into a 4 D imo. His leadership(a bit of a party guy) has been somewhat questioned at times, but I wouldn't worry too much about it, he is more mature now.

Good deal for you guys, he got sell low for sure because of the expansion draft implications.

If Kane is still here I can only imagine the partying with Kane/Beaulieu

I wonder what Gionta thinks? He probably wont be back, apparently a Habs fan told me Beaulieu came into Montreal calling himself Nate the Great and Gionta told him to shut up and that hes nothing

Would have loved to see that

Deslauriers is clearly one of the worst players in the league. He is a total nonfactor in the expansion draft...

Not a good player, hopefully doesn't get more than 2 years, acceptable value for an NHL body with upside.

Let's say Bogo is now exposrd and gets taken. You now have money to go after Kevin Shattenkirk in FA to fill that spot...

Also this does not preclude the Sabres from making post expansion draft deals with either Vegas or another team.

This seems to me the type of cheap, serviceable D-man pickup that could have saved Murray's job when he inexplicably stood pat with his D corps last summer.

He's a 3rd pairing guy right now with some upside left to him. At worst, we're getting a guy who can play point on the 2nd PP unit (with Antipin?) and munch a few minutes.

If he develops some, maybe he does become that top 4 guy he was "guaranteed" to be when drafted.

Worthwhile expenditure of a 3rd, IMO

Basically just upgraded our bottom 4 D for free. This guy checks all the boxes for how Housley wants to play also. Great move.

I'd rather not get rid of one minor bad contract and replace it with a worse contract
