It's about which player you lose. If he's marginally better on the 3rd line than Armia, but doesn't offer anything else, you keep the more versatile player. Not as much value in a #6 winger who only contributes 5v5.

That must be who we got for that missing 3rd round pick.

Because he is an eligible player who is Jets property.

Marko Dano is gone. It's too bad Chevy and co have little idea what they are doing, he is a valuable piece moving forward, much more so than a Lowry, Copp or Armia.

I forgot he actually played for the ice caps. But why is Telegin not on the list then? Is he no longer Jets property?

He may have higher upside but he will never get the opportunity required to reach it here....

My favourite part of the expansion list being released is I no longer have to worry about being anxious or angry at Cheveldayoff for protecting Lowry over Perreault in a 4-4-1 scenario.

Wonder if Chevy is going to try to make a deal to keep Toby?

From a cap point of view I could see them picking up Toby... Vegas does have to get to the cap floor.

They are rumoured to be taking on the Clarkson contract plus MAF and James Neal. I don't think the floor will be an issue for them.

They also cannot select more than $73M in salary in the XD and will be subject to the 110% offseason limit going forward.

I wouldn't send any more assets Vegas way.

I hope Vegas rinses the hell out of them if a deal is worked out to leave them on the table.

OMG, that's the guy we got for the legendary Spencer Machacek. How could we forget?

Which team do you think has the worst list of players to choose from?

I'm going with the Devils... yeeesh.

I must say that I never expected it to happen. I was wrong about Toby waiving.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that Armia should play on the 3rd line at 5on5 because he's better than Dano at PKing. My bad.

We now know that Enstrom agreed to waive 2-3 weeks ago. Dano just signed a few days ago. That indicates either that the Jets struggled with the choice between the 2 or that they negotiated with both. Dano signed and Copp didn't. So Copp wanted to stay here more than Dano did.

Around here some prefer keeping Copp, some prefer Dano. So again, it is close. They had to expose 1. I don't think it is worth getting upset over the choice either way. There are different arguments in favour of each. Call it a tie. Toss a coin. Dano goes.

Why would they protect Copp over Dano?! I'd even take Dano over Lowry
Looks like either Dano or Enstrom are gone, either of which I would not be happy about.

In other news, how is Neal exposed?? I guess maybe they don't think he's part of the future, but he's still a great player.

What is NYI doing? must be a trade brewing leaving CDH unprotected for Pelech.

Jets got a solid from Toby, if we do lose him, there are two holes on LD to plug and the trade market is expensive and UFA D is thin

There has to be a deal there. It is unthinkable that Snow could protect Adam Pelech over CDH. Even if they had gone 4+4 DeHaan had to be on the protected list.

I think they will be competitive. They should have a solid defense (8 guys that are 3/4 defense men) and 2 very good goalies (much better goalies than the Jets 2.0 have ever had). Goal scoring will be the issue, maybe lots of low scoring games.

So assuming Toby is not picked up, is there some "reward" waiting for him from the Jets? It's not a small thing to give up your NMC or basically "take one for the team" so they could protect someone else ... just speculating

To go 7-3-1 they could not protect Dano and expose Copp as they would not meet the exposed forward requirement.

Both Vatanen and Manson exposed by Anaheim. We know there is a deal there but what could they give LV to leave both of those alone?

Maybe the deal is that LVK take Vatanen and send something back.

There is a rumour Toby will be signed to an extension on July 1
