That sounds crazy. With DeHaan exposed GMGM isn't taking one of the Isles F's, surely. And how would that explain protecting Pelech?

If Vegas gets De Haan Chevy needs to be all over it.

From a cap point of view I could see them picking up Toby... Vegas does have to get to the cap floor.
Very likely there are teams that will pay heftily for Vegas to take a player of theirs who comes with a ginormous cap hit.

Around here some prefer keeping Copp, some prefer Dano. So again, it is close. They had to expose 1. I don't think it is worth getting upset over the choice either way. There are different arguments in favour of each. Call it a tie. Toss a coin. Dano goes.
I don't find this 1st sentence convincing evidence of the 2nd. My evaluation of Copp is as a below average 4th liner with potential to be an above average 4th liner. My evaluation of Dano is as an average middle 6 player with top 6 potential. This is worth being unhappy with.

Just because their are arguments in favour of Copp doesn't mean I find them convincing, or that they're good arguments. It by no means makes it a tie.

I think he either gets rewarded with an extension on July 1st or that the gesture was his way of thanking the organisation for letting him take time off last season to deal with his personal life.

Either way I'm happy as long as we don't loose him!

I'm watching NHLNetwork right now and they're going through all the notable unprotected players and the guy suggesting who he'd take said Mark Stuart. Oh if only we were so fortunate.

Really surprised Toby waived as I don't see the upside for him unless he wants to play in the desert. Fine with Dano being exposed.

In other news Carolina exposed Stempniak. Don't they know how good he is?

When it comes to Dano and Postma they are better options than guys in their tier on our team but something behind the scenes is holding them back. Marko seemed to find himself out of favour with Coach Q in Chicago as well so who knows what the **** is up? I like Dano but I don't think PMo will get the best out of him.

I don't disagree, but I'm still unhappy about it.

It's pretty likely Jets exposed Dano over Copp with the agreement Enstrom wouldn't be chosen.

With the signing of Dano is obvious they've reached an understanding with Vegas that that's who's being chosen.

The rumour is that he's been offered a new contract in exchange for waiving

Maybe you're right, though I wouldn't have made that deal (and Enstrom is my favorite player)

The legend of Marko Dano is growing greater and greater in this thread.

He is still living off his 30 good games 2 years ago.

I think Vegas selects 4 goalies.

Fleury
Mrazek
Raanta
Grubauer

That would be $10.75M commited

They must get between $43.8-73.0M

Think Dano probably has the highest offensive ceiling out of the Lowry/Armia/Copp/Dano group.

Prefer protecting Lowry/Armia for their defensive acumen and Lowry being a C.

Okay with Protecting Copp over Dano to give Trouba extra incentive to stick around.

Truthfully I see Armia and Lowry as 2 pieces to a very good 4th line and I think right now that's harder to replace than a top 9 winger like Dano is.

As has been mentioned our winger depth for the top 9 is pretty stellar.

Wheeler
Ehlers
MP
Laine
Connor
Armia
Petan
Spacek
Lemieux

This is an acceptable and probably preferable loss in my opinion.

Upside for Toby is probably a contract extension that will go through in July if he is not selected and/or the Jets obtained assurance from LV that he wouldn't be selected because the Jets offered up a soon to be announced sweetener.

Maybe it kind of makes sense if Mark's as good in the dressing room as we hear. You're taking bits and pieces of each and every team, and by the time GMGM has a roster he might need a guy on that team who can bark the rest of the guys in line.

I think that's a huge stretch, but when you get to select 30 players maybe once you get to Winnipeg you're looking for something other than a roster player.

LOL, yep. He is an advanced stat darling that gets peddled pretty quick by every team he lands on.

Some say he has top-6 potential, but the Jets have superior players in that position so he won't get the opportunity.

I prefer Copp anyways. Never really cared about Dano.

You might very well be right but, for whatever reason, he failed to show it. May have been lack of opportunity, injury, poor conditioning, but it is what happened.
