I forgot he was going the college route and I should have remembered that. The reason I should have remembered is because I know he loved the Preds because of Weber. So as soon as we traded Weber I remember thinking great, we're going to get Vesey'd by this guy now.

Maybe i am wrong, but wasnt the reason Fabbro wanted to be drafted by us because Shea is his favorite Player?

I know, ist maybe stupid to think that was his only motivation but you all know what can happen with those young guys and there later decisions.

To late.

I have a Question, if we realy try to make a deal around Duchene, is this only the decision of Sakic or has the Player a word to say too? I have no idea about the trade rules.

Both of his sisters go to Belmont and he was very familiar with Nashville. He said Weber was his favorite player on the Preds, which were his favorite team.

I think it was a combination of both of these.

Not to nitpick but I feel like Fabbro's family connection to local schools was Austin Peay. I believe Hodgson had a sister at Belmont. But, whatever.

You're probably right, I didn't look it up at all, just guessed from memory.

Also, I wonder if Colorado would retain on Soderberg and/or take back Craig Smith. He was horrible last season on the Colorado Trainwrecks, but has shown to be a very good playmaker in this league. 3 years 4.75 per left on his deal. Maybe another option for the Preds.

All good. Double checked, and his sisters play soccer there. Anyway, carry on.

BTW I don't think he Vesey's us. IMO part of the reason (okay maybe most of the reason) Vesey did what he did was because he came from an elitist NHL family and they figured they could steer him into a more popular market where he'd have more exposure. Fabbro doesn't strike me as that.

Fabbro's Sisters are soccer players at Austin Peay. He's going to be hard to trade because of the Vesey rule.

Wait one year and offersheet McDavid with a max contract

McDavid could sign with any team in the league at a max contract, why would he sign one to come here?

lol....whatever anyone offers him would be matched and you won't even see it get to that point because he will have signed his extension well before anyone has a chance.

Problem I see with this is what it says to the existing players. "Poile signed me to a lower contract and now he pisses away money for these guys? Wait until MY next contract."

Eh, we signed Nystrom for 2.5 mil a year and that didn't happen.

I've been watching Bozak for years and virtually certain that he would fit in better on our team than most of the other assets listed in this thread. If Neal was still here, they would be good linemates but alas. Still think we should be targeting him.

Doesn't work that way in the NHL. It's all about the comps around the league....

So if Poile pays more than the comps, as I read people suggesting, then isn't what I suggested true?

Leon Draisitil. Give him 10M for 10 years and dare Edmonton to match. That's what I would do.

That's literally impossible. Max is 7 years, remember?

Alright 10 for 7 lol.

If they match, we lose nothing and put them in a difficult position moving forward. If they don't we lose 4 first round picks but gain a #1 center/winger who is 21 years old.

Marleau or Duchene. Put either of them between Fiala and Aberg. Talk about speed.

Marleau is a sleeper pick of mine. I'd rather have him than Thornton honestly.

Listening to some Sirius/XM nhl show a little while ago and they were talking McDavid at 15 mil and Draisatl at around 13 mil...per year.

Seems insane to me.

Duchene is the obvious choice.

He loves Nashville and Country Music. Hinted this would be his preferred destination and likely resigning after 2 seasons. Preds need a 1C or 2C, depending on the serious injuries to Fiala/Johansen until late 2017. You might have enough to get him without trading a Big 4 D (Avs want players under 25 and they're 27+).

Duchene

For

Fabbro (AVs superprospect Jost was a former Jr teammate)
Fiala
Kamenev
2018 - 1st Round

A lot to sacrifice within the division. Duchene dynamic skills, breath-taking speed and exceptional hand/eye coordination might be worth the risk. He could be an instant fan favorite like he is the most popular player for the AVs.

Preds aren't giving up Fiala after losing Neal. Have to be someone different.
