4x$4m? I'd be wary of going higher AAV, even with a 30-goal season under his belt.

4 million a year scares me, I would hope he would be like let me show you I can do it more than once and then y'all can pay me. But of course that would never happen hahaha. I like something like wilsons contract 4 years 3.5-3.9 million a year

I agree that would be preferable. I was pretty much setting the max I hope we'll see.

What's his waiver status? Anyway I see Aberg this coming year like Watson last year. It's kinda time to fish or cut bait with him. Even if he scratches a lot it's better to have him here than send him down. If we aren't going to do that then hopefully we will have used him in a trade package for a better player.

Yeah your max isn't terrible but it is if he never hits that 30 goal mark again. If he's putting in 20/25 a year it needs too be 3.5 area. That's what smith contract should be. Will see though

Totally forgot he was RFA. 2 years $6M? $2.75M and then $3.25M the second year.

After a 30 goal season he's gonna want cash or term. 4 mil per x 3 years leaving him and RFA is a fair offer. Or else he chooses term and signs 6 years at an AAV of 3.25 to 3.5.

Honestly I'm not sure what I would offer him, much more than a bridge deal kind of scares me with him.

I think that's fair. Just the closer to $4M the more I worry we are duplicating the Smith deal. I wish we had one more year of data to work with on him.

Preds looking for a top 6 forward?

Are the rumors true? Is your team looking for a top 6 forward? If so what would a

to Nashville: Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar

To Detroit: Dante Fabbro and a 2nd round pick

Trade look like?

Yes, the Preds are absolutely in need of a top 6 forward, likely at least two. Too much salary coming in with that trade though. Preds would still desperately need a legit top 6 center after the trade, and would have very little if any cap space.

We could use a top 6 center. Got any available?

We are looking for a top 6 center for sure. An extra forward would be nice but not two high priced Wings(pun intended)

Nyquist could replace Neal nicely. Tatar would not be a welcome add even though he is a solid player. Just not what we need.

Nyquist would be great, if he could be had for Craig Smith + pick/s. Tatar is a nice player, but no idea what he's asking for on his next contract.

3 years puts Arvidsson as a UFA, not RFA.

I forgot that Arvidsson was an overage draftee

is the rule that you can become UFA at 27 no matter how many pro years you have played?

edit to add.. if a two year bridge is all we can do it might cost closer to 4.5 to 5 per year.

Tough call for Poile... if he signs a bridge and reproduces the 30+ level both years, he will cost north of 8 for long term signing. But if he signs for term, say 4.5 x 6 years, he could be another Smith

Yep, UFA at 27 or at least 7 years played.

I would go the Smith route if Arviddson signs up.

Looks like Dallas is adding Marc Methot. Already added Bishop and they still have lots of cap space. Blues got a little better too, Jets are looking to add a goalie. Chicago probably got a little worse, but they're still active and looking to improve.

Still lots of time for Poile, but so far, this offseason is a big bag of suck.
