Washington is getting a whole lineup in this deal, way too much and unrealistic. I don't see the Caps losing Kolzig for Cujo where Kolzig is less expensive and the only guy that's been consistent for them in the last 5 years. Fischer isn't going anywhere.

To Wsh: Dandenault, 2nd rd pick

To Det: Lang

That's all i see happening.

Caps dont have a 3rd and dont need another young goalie (Charpy, Ouellet, Stana, MaxD)

Again, Washington doesnt need a young goalie and trading Witt doesnt make sense.

Absolutely no chance of that happening. Toronto doesn't give up anywhere near enough in this deal. Tucker is more or less worth the 3rd so that leaves Colaiacovo for Gonchar. I don't think I even have to start with that one. If TO wants Gonchar, they're gonna be talking Kaberle/Antropov type players going the other way.

Word of advice for TO fans, not many teams have much interest in Tucker and his value is not very high. He would not land you much.

The Stars Defense is fine the way it is, sure we could use Sergei but it just doesn't make sense trading away our current best player for one not exactly necessary..

Though a Zubov - Gonchar is "da shiznit"..

So far, I don't think any of these deals sees enough go to the Caps. They will wait for more return in most of these cases, and will not want significant salaries in return -- unless a team takes Jagr, in which case name your price.

Way to much bud we are talking a player 1 year away from UFA (if even that after the CBA)

Gonchar would be nice but does not fill the need of the Leafs defense plus he will be seekeing at least 5 mill per year after this year.

Gonchar is one of my favorite players but right now unless the rumors about Dallas are true I don't think I touch our lineup.

they have an upgrade over charpy if and when they want to take it, max ouellet. i dont think you will see much of charpy. getting a young guy like sauve demands starts just as having ouellet would. getting sauve is wasting assets. defensemen please, the caps have enough goalies.

Gonchar is not what the Leafs need??? He's a bonafide #1 dman and one of the top offensive dmen in the league. Yes, the Leafs have Kaberle but the Leafs are relying on him too much. Gonchar would be very very useful in Toronto. He's not the greatest in his own end but he's improving there. Regardless, paired with Klee, his defense wouldn't be a major concern.

Impending UFA or not, he's worth a heck of a lot. Probably not as much as the proposal suggests but to assume that his value is lowered because he's going to be UFA is just wrong. He's one of the top dmen in the league and he will command that sort of value in a trade.

And since when will 5 million a year be a problem for the Leafs to pay?

Yes, but im thinking in the now.Max wont get starts with Olie here.So calling Max up to back Olie up just so we can upgrade over Charpy would not be worth it.Acquiring a better backup for the now, would be better because it would put us in most games. I just feel Charpy is in the bottom 1/3rd of the league when it comes to backups.

nope, Colorado has their 3rd. thus, the 3rd in that deal is Washington's 3rd being traded BY Colorado.

Sauve falls into the same catagory as Ouellet. A projected number one that needs to play. he is no more a back up than max is which is why i
don't think sauve is the right guy for the job.

Whyw ould Washington want a young goalie ni ANY trade involving Kolzig. If we plan on moving Kolzig it would be a sure sign of rebuilding which means Maxime Ouellet would take over. Why drop Kolzig for a young goaltender when we have an amazing one already develop(ed)ing. The only thing we may move him for is D we have no use for another goalie at this point in time.
