Gonna be hard to move Grubauer now that Arizona traded for Stepan and Raanta

Buffalo does seem like the best landing spot for Grubauer. Perhaps they could get pick 37 and a C prospect or something. If the Caps can afford to keep him next season I'd rather roll the dice and see if they can't net a first rounder next year. But if they can't afford him that could be adequate value depending on who's available and their thoughts on the class in general.

God I hope not. He is horrible.

I want Hanifin or one of the Wild D.

Philadelphia still needs a 2nd goalie, but have been linked to Bernier.
Buffalo may want a goalie with the reports they're moving on from Lehner, but did pay Vegas to protect Ullmark.
Winnipeg could be a player, depending on how much patience they have with Hellebuyck.
I'll put Los Angeles as a random dark horse given the injury and age concerns with Quick. They do have one more year of Zatkoff, though.

I just hope they haven't painted themselves into such a cap corner they need a league minimum 2G and are forced to settle for under market value on Grubauer. Hopefully they can hold out long enough to get the type of full payment return they need to help restock the cupboard.

I have a feeling we trade into the 3rd round.

Moving Grubauer seems like a good idea.

Bundling 2 picks to move into the 3rd would fit right with GMBM/Mahoney's MO

I said this is another thread... but I'd take anything of reasonable value (F,D,Pick) in return for a Grubi/Orpik package.

It makes sense if the right player is there.

I'm all about upside forwards in this draft. They're relatively well fortified on D, in net and with checkers after last year but they could use more forwards with scoring-line upside.

Right player? Nathan Walker is already under contract.

Joking aside maybe we'll move up to draft a bloodline pick. I don't know often other teams do it, but we seem to buy into the DNA thing.

It would be nice to see them move up into one of the first three rounds but who knows. The Caps do one thing well (when they have picks) and that is drafting. Except Sasha Pokulok and Joe Finley...never mind.

Forgot that Bob McKenzie likes to tip every pick.

Mittelstadt clearly dropping due to not being able to do a pullup.

Mac says Caps don't have a plan on how to fill Schmidts spot, will explore trade and free agency. Doesn't know if the Hershey kids are ready.. at least there's something new there

Eh. It was off the board a bit but your guy is your guy. Similar to Vegas, they erred toward solid two-way play and competitiveness up the middle. It's a relatively safe pick and both he and Glass carry some decent upside as well.

Edit: Pretty good start for Vegas nabbing a couple of high character centers and a high upside defenseman. Brannstrom might be a tad early but not much in terms of upside.

Winnipeg stays slaying the draft outside of the Stanley pick.

The Caps would have had a number of quality forwards available to them at 27. Not liking that fact for what the Pens may still be able to wind up with.
