Ah, that's something that I had forgotten about. So, playoff teams can never have a top-14 pick. Thanks, Sponge.

IMO the Kings need to draft a Goaltender. Agree with you not to re sign Parrish. Also Roenick, Robitaille.

Trade Aaron Miller. Too old and damaged goods. Allows us to save to sign good players.

If I were the Kings I will go for home runs in this draft.... might as well.

Guys still contracted next season are probably looking for out clauses.

I think at this point even Kopitar and Boyle may be reconsidering their destination for next season.

Too bad Kopitar is already under contract. For their sake, they will have a brand new coaching staff in training camp this August/September.

Mgmt needs to make the changes sooner rather than later - otherwise, who the hell would want to sign with an organization in turmoil??

I did. Because it's a big city, he's used to being in the big city after being in NY.

I know if I were Parrish and I saw how this team has been run in the short time I had been here then I would probably not want to stay......Unless the Kings can show him that they are trying to win the Cup next season.....instead of a rebuild (which is what I think they should do) then he will probably not be back.

All it will take is A) a new GM with a winning attitude, or B) a real nice free agent signing here.

I'd rather see Parish gone than overpay for him. He is far to streaky and inconsistent.

It's looking like the Kings will most likely pick 13th in this year's draft.

One thing: Long Island is not, nor will it ever be, New York City.

Not even close.

Carry on

I've only been in the airports in NY on my way to Europe.

If the Kings keep their current 13th draft position, which seems likely, they might get this kid:
Quote:
13). C Bryan Little
Little Brian Little is a pure scorer. You know exactly what you are getting with this kid. He is a good skater and a good passer but what he does best is drive to the net and score goals. He has a way of avoiding the big hits which is why this kid will not have a problem playing against much bigger opponents in the NHL. He is like a water bug out their some nights. He has a tendency of trying to do too much by himself but that realization will come with maturity and time. Brian will be NHL ready within a couple years.
After drafting Fast and Quick, you just know that the Kings would draft Little . He does sound, though, like he has some things that the Kings desperately need, especially driving to the net and scoring goals. The Kings don't really need another centerman, though.

If he's still around, I hope we see the Kings go after Nigel Williams. Also, if Backstrom is available at the 8th pick, id love to see us try and move up for that pick.

Ty Wishart looks like probably the best bet for L.A. (according to ranking) in the way of defensemen:
Quote:
12). D Ty Wishart
I love Ty’s game. He plays an in-your-face hi tempo style from the back end while also incorporating in some very good finesse skills. He has one of the best shots from the point in the entire draft. A decent skater who always gives a good effort. Foot speed could be upgraded. He has laid out a few opponents this year with big bone crushing hits. He is very confident on the ice, rarely second guessing himself. His main focus is on being a defensive stopper. Did I mention his size is 6’-4.5” and 210 Lbs. Ty could develop into a top 3 NHL defenseman. He is one of my favorites in this draft.

CSB Scouting Report on Ralph Backstrom:
  • A mobile good skater with acceleration speed and balance. Incredible hockey sense and hands. A solid allround player with terrific over all skill level. Good offensive talent, excellent playmaker and passer. A scorer with a quick release and a good selection of shots. Smooth hands, effective at face offs.
  • A creative offensive talent with excellent work ethic. Finesse player who can play tough, can take and give a hit. Very good attitude.,comes out to play on every shift. In excellent shape but do need more strenght.
  • Played both junior and senior hockey with Brynäs 04-05. Besta forward on Brynäs in the Swedish league 05-06. Best forward on SWE U20 at World Jun. On SWE U18 at World jun. in April 05.
