Second Predator in the hall, and first to play more than 17 games.

Congratulations to him and to another favorite, Teemu Selanne. Nice that they're being inducted at the same time. Seems appropriate.

excellent. hope he is healthy and satisfied with life after hockey

Selanne was a lock, in my opinion, Kariya is a head scratcher to me, to put him ahead of several others waiting to get in the Hall.

I still remember where I was when I heard on the radio that Kariya had signed here. People talk about the skill of our guys these days, but Kariya was so dynamic here. If you were around and watching Preds games back then you know what I mean.

989 points in 989 games. He is more of a lock than a head-scratcher to me.

Oh, yeah...what a day that was!

I'd never seen so many people show up for training camp before! (Now it's normal but back then there were 100 people max)

When he signed I was on vacation in the woods with no internet, no phone although we had cable which is how I saw it once on the ESPN crawl. Since I only saw it the one time, I didn't even know if it was true for a few days. I volunteered to make a beer run to a nearby little town, but the real reason I went is so I could stop in this rinky dink little library to use their internet to confirm. First and only time I volunteered to make a beer run in my life. Well worth the trouble.👍

When I told my daughter that Kariya signed with the Preds, she thought that I was kidding. When she realized that I wasn't, she said that it was the biggest signing in club history. That other FAs would look at Nashville as a place to go.

Congrats to Paul and the Preds!

Pierre Turgeon had 1324 points in 1294 games, with 1 less Lady Byng than Kariya, but he's somehow not in.

He, among others I feel, should have been in prior to Kariya, but that's just my opinion.

I think Kariya is a better player. Captained a team to a Cup Final appearance, two more all-star appearances, and better international success. He also played his prime through the DPE, while Turgeon racked up his biggest point totals prior to '95. Add in that Kariya did this despite numerous injuries, and he could easily eclipse Turgeon's career totals.

I also don't think Turgeon ever even played in a conference final, but I'm not sure. He was certainly a great player, and deserving of the Hall. I don't think most people even remember that he played most of the '00s. He was just never a central figure in the league and always the guy who was traded when teams wanted to try a new direction.

Kariya was truly an elite player. He passed the eye test. Turgeron had his peak and did some elite stuff, but he never seemed to be that guy....

I get the take though.

The day Kariya signed here was the next step in this teams evolution. We had a couple of teams that I thought could make it so so deep in the playoffs.

I remember that also. He was one of our first league wide stars. He was amazing. He helped elevate interest and expectations with his skill.
