Good term and solid AAV. I'm happy. For those focusing on his playoffs, he was playing through a broken hand and injured groin.

This makes me even more pissed that we moved Beaulieu for next to nothing.

Alzner fits a need as a defensive D in the top 4 with Petry.

We need a puck moving D for #2 if we don't resign Markov

He had one good playoff run.

That doesn't make him a "proven playoff performer"

Not bad if true. Bergevin needs to focus on offense now. Centers.

I don't know if it means "losing" anyone. If Habs do sign Alzner at 4.5M, they will have 16.5M in cap space. Enough not to lose anyone.

When your defense can't handle the puck, skate or pass, good coaches exploit them.
Alzner can definitely skate and pass. He had a broken hand and injured groin last year.

Hope he can hold on to his stick. He needs his wife to open jars for him.

Maybe there is a trade in the works for that? Or Habs may give a shot to Jerabek. But that would be a wild card.

4.5 is a great price for a second pairing guy. Can't be mad at this.

His wife is the one who opens the jars at home. He says his hands have been weakened after being broken so many times blocking shots.

I hope we sign Markov, but Alzner can definitely play with Weber and be an upgrade to what Emelin was. Playing with a defensive guy, Weber can step up his O like he did with emelin.

This is the frustrating thing. Add a potentially $10m for Price and that's almost $40m just on keeping the puck out.

If this is true, it just reinforces how much we need to get rid of Tomas Plekanec and his awful 6 million dollar cap hit. That's one of the biggest issues preventing this team from acquiring talent and help.

I'm not sure how to feel about the signing. If indeed he is signed.

He's a decent option on the second pairing to play with Petry.

The main question on defense is, who plays with Weber now?

Markov isn't up to it over an entire season IMO, and isn't worth 12 million over two years.

Still far too many holes in this lineup.

I think everyone forgets about jerabek yeah, but they cant possibly just hand him the keys to number 2 like that

i CERTAINLY hope it doesnt come out that the price is actually MORE than 4.5 mill per, ...then.. i would not be pleased with this, at all

That was when he was hurt. Habs certainly gave him a physical.

It is a little bit too much but that's the reality of July 1st. It's the price you pay to get a guy without giving up an asset.

If signed it's once again this team willingly paying a premium for a secondary piece while humming and hawing at paying actual stars.
