That being said, Alzner is alright. He's not the difference between pretender and contender. He's a solid defensemen, but not a game breaker. The Habs overpaid a little to fill a self created hole, but the hole had to be filled. Alzner is good enough, but more needs to be done.

If it's only Alzner without a PP specialist, I'm a little disappointed.

So far so good since Markov is still out there.
Perhaps the intention is to go with a guy like Drouin at the point for the PP. Lets face it there was a good chunk of last year where Markov was not used on the first PP unit.

I'll believe it when Bobby Mac says so. Right now the only guy on record with this deal is Aaron Ward, while Francois Gagnon says no deal yet. We'll see.

He's better than Emelin? Cap hit is surprisingly tolerable. Definitely not what kind of dman we need though

Sure but no point crying over spilled milk. I also have a really low opinion of NB so I really dont see him as an asset lost

of course he is not worst, but you forgot armchair Gm's want a number 1 dmen , who is not a free agent , to be signed for 2 million and without giving up any asset.... Even on the play station that does not work

It's not a bad contract. Term and money are fine. It's a great contract mind you, but it's fine.

He's Emelin with a high hockey IQ and great defensive awareness. Less hitting.

It's been 7 seasons in a row he hasn't missed a game. He's the iron man since 2010-11.

No, I just prefer bottom pairing defenseman not to be signed for 4.5m.

Alzner's advanced D stats were rock solid last year - he will fit well in Julien's system and with Price behind him.

I agree Bergevin has a lot more work to do but this is not a bad signing at all - I dont get the moaning about this signing.

My point mostly : if he cant follow anymore, he'll be LTIR if his condition allows it.
And we have all sorts of reasons to believe its the case.

LOL so he's nothing like emelin. I watch a couple of caps games. Think an older Jonas Bordin. Nothing spectacular, won't put up offensive numbers. But he can log 20 mins a game of solid hockey. Great fit beside Petry... not sure for Weber.

Because its a step closer to losing Markov, who everyone loves ...who is holding the habs hostage for 2 years at 6 million per at 38 ****ing years old

He's a solid for that second pairing, but still desperately need that first pairing LD.

What, his PDO? You know that isn't sustainable?

He doesn't suppress shots, if that's what you are pointing to. And he is an anchor in shot generation.
