Thanks for this. The cons make me think he's going to be paired with Buff and Buff will roam like always but now has someone to cover for him more effectively. If he ends up playing those minutes, does his job defensively and moves Enstrom down to make a strong third pair the AAV doesn't seem quite so bad.

As with many the AAV seems high and the term is a year more than expected but what were we paying Stu again? If we're largely swapping out Stu for Kulikov I'm pretty ok with that.

Morrissey Trouba
Kulikov Buff
Enstrom Myers
Chiarot (Postma?)

Sometimes you gotta overpay in silly season to get Chiarot out of the lineup.

Thanks for the info! I love how you used 'horrendous shot' twice.

Would not surprise me if they played him with Buff on pair #2 and slid Enstrom down with Myers.

Awful deal. 1:1 I'd rather have Chiarot playing than Kulikov, in any situation. I wonder why Cheveldayoff still has a job.

I want the Jets to make the playoffs. The AAV little more than what most people here would like, but none of us would care as long as the Jets make the playoffs. They are making moves to get there folks, get hyped!

If he returns to his Florida form, he's a far, FAR better option than either of those players (and I like Postma).

No

PS: I assume you're getting warmed up on taking Kulemin out at the knees when doesn't perform?

Also, we can now maybe, just maybe, distribute TOI just a liiiitttle bit more evenly. No more 11min Stuuu, no more 27min Buff.

Good with this. As we turn the corner to be competitive, this is what to expect. Good on Chevy and Co. for going after after premium FA's

Basically Enstrom's replacement a year early with a ELC slotting in the plan for 18-19 on the bottom pair?

Too much moola but the term is alright and it pushed Chiarot to 7 so on the whole it's fine.

Probably gonna have a pretty high buyout potential going into that third year though haha.

One year more than I like but that is the July 1st tax for asset free help.

UFA = premium $$, add that there was not much of a D crop in UFA this year and add the Winnipeg tax (We have potential but haven't proven anything yet. Until we start proving we are a perennial contender there is not much to attract players here yet) I'm happy with this.

Ya, that would be better than our 2nd pair. He's ahead of Toby for sure.

Everyone should be capable of handling 20 minutes at any given night now, so this should be a massive relief. Even if we have an injury, there's still five other quailty guys to carry the load.

That's how I see it and you have to figure that was the general idea in the war room.

Lol its predictable isn't it? They need something to hate Chevy for, but what a reach after this offseason. He is killing it. The guy played 22mins a game last year, 2nd most on the team. At LHD an area of need. I don't see anything but a great job done by Chevy.

Morrissey - Trouba
Enstrom - Buff
Kulikov - Myers

Chiarot
Etc.

That's a pretty strong defensive line-up.
Not with Enstrom there. Kuli is far better.

Morrissey - Buff
Kuli - Trouba
Chiarot/Poolman/Enstrom - Myers

I like the signing, like that Chevy is actively trying to fill the holes on the team. Kulikov had quite the bad year last year but I think Chevy still see's him as the player he was on Florida. Hoping he gels well with the team!

Feel free to put him anywhere on the LH side - I'm not setting the line-up. Anything that pushes Chiarot to the #7/8 role is fine by me.

Near 600K above projected salary, which would be market value. That said, Kulikov is a player whose market value is more than his true value.

He's tradable for his final season if Poolman or Niku is ready.

Projected performance give past:

Overall, I like the signing. A bit too much AAV than I would have liked, but that's the FA game.

If he's good defensively, might be a good match with Buff.

We needed a defensive defenseman and got one. I don't care what we paid. We have tons of room for this very reason.

Love it!

Meh. It's not like he was way better previous seasons, thanks to getting penalties:

Meh, Kulikov is decent at shot suppression but his offence leaves a lot to be desired. Better than Chiarot and Stuart at least, plus I'd much rather pay Kulikov 4.3 than Alzner 4.6.
