Congrats! Not really a regular season performer, but a playoff warrior.

Welcomed with open arms. He's our 2C if we don't still trade for one.
His contract is pretty good also.

Solid player, good add. Seems like a nice guy and a great addition to the locker room.

I'm excited about Bonino and look forward to bringing in another forward (hopefully).

Not thrilled but the cap hit isn't too bad so whatever. Prove me wrong, Bones.

Can someone please enlighten me on bonino?
Why are people happy we are paying 4.1 million for four years to a guy basically thirty years old who has never hit fifty points ever. Am I missing something? Not trying to hate on him just need some reasons to like this move. Thanks

He's a #2/3C, which is worth 3.5M for sure. 40 points players are easily worth that. Getting him for 0 assets is worth the extra .6M

Plus at the end of the day the extra 0.5k overpay (if you believe its an overpay) only matters if it prevents you from doing something.

I'm good with this. Honestly the best news was reading he has offers for more elsewhere and chose the Preds. Progress.

Is this the same money we've been paying Fisher?

Pretty much. So if he gives us Fisher's contribution over the life of the deal, it's a fair contract.

I'm still expecting another move. We have way too much cap space to tap out after the moves we have made.

A year and a million less than I feared. It works. I don't think it even matters who you call #2/3/4 center anymore... with Bonino, Jarnkrok, Sissons, maybe Fisher, there are at least options. See how the line chemistry pans out, see what happens. At least there are options to shuffle around. You'd love to have a clear obvious 2C, but you can't really expect to have a "perfect" lineup, and the Preds with this depth are a lot better off than most teams.

This is a bad contract for Nashville. I like Bones, but he's a 3C at best. Playoff beast, regular season meh....

That said, he will provide quality minutes & good defensive draws. He shows up in big playoff games & scores timely goals. That's where the value is for him...

Congrats to him on getting the contract & wish the Pens could have kept him, but Nashville overpaid on this one.

It's essentially Wilson for Bonino. I'm 100% okay with that.

It seems the market would disagree with you. With that said, how much did Nashville overpay by?

Be prepared to be annoyed and frustrated with him until March, then he'll go on his annual March hot streak and probably carry it over to the playoffs. Suffice to say it's much better having a guy who plays his best hockey March-June than October-February. In meaningless games he's frustratingly invisible, in meaningful games he has that knack to be in the right place at the right time frequently enough that it's not just a coincidence.

I don't think he has the offense to be worth $4 million a year, but given the rumors that contract is reasonable for a July 1 signing. I'll miss Bones and I'm sure he'll be a fan favorite in Nashville as well.

Not a big fan of this signing. Paying 4.1m a year for another third line center doesn't sit well with me.

He is basically jarnkrok with the ability to play well in the playoffs. Most I would have wanted to pay is maybe 2.75 per

You can't just say you will pay what you want. Market dictates price. If you go buy a car you can't say I'm only paying this amount.... well I guess you can but you end up without a car.

We weren't even the highest bidder for Bonino. He took less money to come here.

If we stuck to our guns and don't sign him because he's 750k too expensive. What is our plan B if Fish retires? We don't have have one, but thank goodness we didn't spend that extra million on Bonino!

His stats say '2nd line center', HERO charts say 2nd line center, you say 3rd line center but he was behind CROSBY AND MALKIN!

40 point player? That's being generous considering who he gets to play with. Without those good teammates he's had what type of player is he? Certainly not a 2C. He's an average 3C.

He HAS to be lined up with a possession driving wingers like Fiala or Forsberg or Arvidsson otherwise he's not much.

He is usually around roughly a 40 point pace as a 3C, not bad. But yes, he will need some playmakers on his line. Still a good acquisition IMO

Without those teammates he had his best statistical seasons. He had 49 points with Higgins and Vrbata as his most common linemates. 2nd best season with Palmieri/Belesky.
