Farewell Wilson. Would have rather moved smith here but it works. Good luck in Colorado.

Damn. Disappointed to see him go, always thought he drove offense more than people give him credit for. Must be more coming that we need cap space for.

Was a big Wilson fan when we drafted him, and later a Wilson apologist when he didn't live up to the hype. Hopefully a change of scenery does him good.

Yeah always thought we would regret trading him, don't believe that anymore. I think Poile could justify it in the past because of the playoffs, but he was a non-factor so I think Aberg basically gets his spot.

Dump cap and aren't really hurt long term because of it. I'm ok with the move.

It makes me sad that we just traded Playoff Willy for a bag of pucks. To the Avs.

I wonder what they are planning. They don't need the cap space that badly. Even with the RFAs. There aren't many good UFAs left that they would need space for. A trade? Get Neal back? No idea. But a cap dump move doesn't make sense in isolation.

Mostly agree with this. $22.9M in cap space is a lot, and we still have plenty of room to make another move, even if we give Johansen and Arvidsson the moon. Dumping Wilson for a pick makes no sense unless someone better is coming in.

I think Poile is trying for more, but at the end of the day all we did was complain about Wilson. If we only get a 4th with no "more to come" of this I am still happy with the move.

If you think the contract is bad now then it needs to be dumped when the opportunity presents itself. Doesn't have to be any more to it than that really.

Maybe Hartnell replaces Wilson?

I'm fine with this. He was signed for 2 more years and wasn't doing much here. Bonino's contract slides right and we still have virtually as much capspace as before. Leaves us more room to get something done during the season or at the deadline.

I'm ok with the move as long as we spend the money. If not what was the point. Time will tell.

Now if we could just get rid of no finish Smith. Love Smith's speed but hate his lack of finish. Hated regular season Willy but at least he showed up for the playoffs and was playoff Willy. If it was my choice I would have gotten rid of Smitty over Wilson. I liked Willy and wish him best of luck.

I think Smith has a better chance of rebounding than Wilson though.

Agreed. Wilson is the true "turd" in my mind.

a shame he never reached the potential that Poile saw when we traded up to get him. Also a shame he had his one really decent season before his last contract.

The return for Wilson says it all. "Cap Dump"

He looked like he had put it all together during the shortened season before injury (I think it was that year). And then he just never really did it again other than sometimes in the playoffs.

Would have liked a 3rd for him, but at least the Avs pick should be high.

Wish him well in Colorado. Sadly he wasn't going anywhere in here so a change of scenery for him is what both Preds and Wilson needed.

Up/down regular seasons and injuries really set his career back early on. I think he was better than he was given credit at times but he did struggle in the regular season to put things together. He has a couple of amazing playoff runs. I still see the potential there for him to somehow become more. Good luck Wilson!

Always knew it was a possibility that he or Smith would be moved, and now that it happened I'm sad to see him go. I wish him well in Colorado, it seems both the team and Willy knew that a fresh start would be the best thing for him.

Bye Willy, good luck in Colorado!

Another radio show host is gone.

With him and Neal gone, I officially have no current player shirts to wear. I think I would be safe with a Joey or PK shirt!

I've not been able to convert into a Wilson (or Smith) fan, but out of respect for those who are - here is my post to help get this thread to at least 2 pages. I mean it'd just really suck if a guy who spent so many years with the Preds couldn't at least get 2 pages of chatter!

So, Wilson, best of well wishes to your future and here's hoping you land in a scenario that's a better fit for what you bring!

He was often able to carry the puck into offensive zone, make few of those fast turns and dish the puck forward. No magical passes, but still something that kept the offense going. Won a lot of board battles too.

Really liked him and wish we had traded Smith instead and extended Willy. Perfect 3rd line winger capable to stunt on top lines even for longer periods of time without being a liability.

I just looked at his stats. one season out of 7 with 20 goals. might have hit 20 in the short season. otherwise just garbage low third liner type numbers. I think Aberg can replace his production if given a full year. Or Hartnell this year and Aberg the next.

Just never found that next level here to be a top 6 player
