Superstitions

Do you have any superstitions regarding the Canadiens?

I've got a couple going on right now. Three, actually.

I set my desktop wallpaper as the 1993 Stanley Cup champions picture on, I think Thursday. We all know this was the start of our little winning streak. I liked some of the wallpapers from canadiens.com, but I simply cannot bring myself to changing it while the team's doing well.

My MSN display picture is my avatar here without the potatoes in the background. I can't change that right now, either.

My Habs jersey was washed on Tuesday of last week, and then I ended up wearing it on Thursday. The Habs won, so I figured I'd wear it during the game Saturday.. then Sunday... then Tuesday. I'll be putting it on again in a couple of minutes. It won't be washed while the team's still doing well.

When we weer visiting slumpville I tried different things to no avail.

Some "rules" I still go by are no talking about a shootout during the match, no singing na na na hey hey when there's a lot of time left or taking for granted that we'll make the playoffs and discussing our opponents, etc.

4-0-0 since Avatars, that's my superstition. If we win tonight that clasifies the Avatars as Serial-Superstition.

When I watch the game on RDS , if I change the channel during a commercial break or the intermission....I have to return to RDS and then change again and come back to RDS.
I started doing that because a few years ago I had changed the channel and came back and the Sabres scored 5 seconds after I came back . A few days later the next game , I had changed the channel and came back and again the other team scored within 5 to 10 seconds .
The next time around I changed the channel and then decided to change it again and come back to RDS ...and the HABS scored .

So...whenever I leave RDS , I come back and leave and come back again immediately . Silly, Stupid , superstitious , but hey, we eliminated the Bruins 02-04

I never visit any sports-related website on game day until after the game is done. No TSN.ca, RDS, Sportsnet, Canadiens.com, ESPN, anything. Blogs and hockey forums are an exception though

No shaving during winning streaks. Usually wear the same shirt too.

Same lighting configuration in my apartment during all games. That and a nod to my 1993 shrine beforehand...

I forbid my little brother and sister from coming in my room while I watch the game now .I did this because it seemed like the other team would score every time they came in

I have a few

1. I have my Beliveau jersey placed on my chair CH facing out. (haven't lossed in this new position).

2. I haven't shaved since our 5 game win streak started and will keep growing this beard until said streak ends.

Those are the main two, the rest are just embarassing

I find the habs play way better when I drink at least a beer or two during the game.

Habs record when I've had at least a beer or two during the game
37W-26L-9OTL

Habs record when I don't have a beer during the game
0W-1L-0OTL

.000 winning percentage when I don't have at least one beer during the game. I just can't risk NOT having a beer during a habs game. EVER!!!!!!!

I'm the least superstitous person you'll ever meet. People control their own destinys not some magical thing called fate.

I have a "Ryder/Happy face Canadien Logo" flag they gave on the night Saku Koivu was back from cancer treatment. Since then, I put the flag on my TV set for each important game.

I have a powerplay samuraļ sword and a penalty kill samuraļ sword that my friends and I must wield when we watch the games.

Obviously superstitions don't affect wins or losses... that's just silly... but special teams. that's another issue.

If I'm on vacation and I can't watch the game they always lose. I was away from March 12 - 19 and they lost to the Bolts, Canes and Pens.
