This is bad asset management by BMAC.

We lost both Mojo and Schmidt for a 2nd round pick and a 3rd.

Should have exposed Mojo instead and kept Schmidt.

Exactly. At this point, it would have been better to go 4-4-1 and protect Schmidt. Now we have a hole in the Top 6 and the Top 4 in stead of just the Top 6.

Man we got hosed. I really want to put a positive spin on this, but I don't see one. Unless there is a signing coming to fill a hole our roster is starting to look rough

Given the Kuzy, Oshie and Orlov signings, how much does this even leave them to spend on UFAs?

Awful decision given the timing and the return. Won't be surprised if the Caps don't even make the playoffs at this point

Use the 2nd and 3rd for some team to eat Orpik's contract and sign Radulov.

Lot of Caps fans very somber and angry about the team's direction this offseason but I think our GM has earned the benefit of the doubt he knows what he doing. It looks bad now but let's see what happens. The offseason isn't done yet.*

Also lol @ the people implying this team wouldn't make the playoffs. Oshie. Check. Backstrom, check, Ovi, check, Holtby, check. A team like that doesn't miss the playoffs. Now winning the cup that's another story.

I mean he just gave a division rival a 50 point homegrown talent for less then he had to give up to get a dude who has never gone above 30 points. Like, no matter what else he does, this is an awful deal.

If they're trading MoJo, they should have done it before the expansion draft and protected Schmidt. This reeks of lack of foresight from the management. It's not like they didn't know that Kuznetsov, Orlov, and Oshie were going to be free agents this off-season. They should have been able to get an idea of what they were going to cost well before the expansion draft. Awful.

Can MJ play RW or is he primarily at LW? We have a major need on the right side.

In another division, sure. In the Metropolitan, at least one playoff-worthy team will miss out. The Caps have downgraded from a lock atop the division with Pittsburgh into the mess that's the Rangers/Islanders/Blue Jackets/Flyers, and lost two of their top six wingers to the Devils and Hurricanes.

Left wing. He hasn't played RW since Bruce Boudreau was the coach.

Man this is the price for going all in on a two year window and coming up empty. I'm still trusting GMBM as the season isn't starting tomorrow, but man we are going to need some kids to step up

Wah wah wah, I backed myself into a corner and had no other option.

I don't get their sequencing or off-season in general thus far. It smacks of ownership making decisions piecemeal with no real planning or foresight behind wanting to keep players they like.

Sign Markov and it looks a bit better on paper but I doubt that's feasible given his stated demands. They absolutely need a better 2LW than Vrana or Connolly anyway.

Yikes. Ugh. Erhm.

(Breathe, have faith in GMBM)
(Breathe, it's been a weird off-season for everyone)
(Breathe, it's only sports)
(Breathe, think of rainbows and puppy dogs)

Majority of the time spent on LW. He played some RW with Ovechkin and Backstrom, and played some center but that was all earlier in his career.
