Well when you call out the team the way he did, I would expect to be cut. I knew as soon as he threw that fit to the media that he was toast in this building.

Oops... Good thing he has a regular day job. Surely he had to know that he was cutting himself out when he did that interview.

No offense but he brought negative press to the Preds for no real reason. He shouldn't want a reunion and neither should the Predators.

Lock him up long term. McDavid's contract really pushes the market for GMs but we can't afford to let Dennis K Morgan go to arbitration.

Lets see what the market gives him. I think we will see he's overrated based on his next deal.

So who could we pick up in free agency to replace him? IDK could be hard to find one in Nashville.

This whole thing was so dumb. He would say stuff like "I got tired of everyone I knew asking me how I felt about not singing the anthem."

Loose translation: "I would run into people I know casually for the first time in awhile and to make small talk they asked me about it."

No probably what it meant was the local media asked him about it here and there, no one else cared.

Should have at least tendered him he's still a RFA. The Leafs could have given up a couple of picks for him. Have you heard his rendition of "Oh Canada"?

I'd say come on guys but he killed some on the magic to the playoff run and you can't do that as an entertainer. His name is cancerous and I hope he realizes what he did.

Maybe it is because I am an adult, but him venting in the press had no effect whatsoever on the run for me.

I have heard him sing the anthem so many times, when I hear someone else sing it, I get tripped up because it isn't in his cadence.

He was a fine anthem singer for many years here, and it is a shame it ended the way it did.

Grow up people. (and no, I don't know DKM)

Oh he had no effect on the run for me what so ever. I thought he was fine but it's not a huge deal.....or even a small one. Good luck in your future endeavors, now let it go.

Dang, we could have bundled his rights along with Stu-pid's for a 7th rounder in the 2023 draft.

Fingers crossed the replacement can keep time and carry the tune. Singing along is getting to be the way we do it, and I'd hate to see that go away.

I didn't mind his singing and it was consistent at least. Most clubs have a set anthem singer. But he blew the gig by complaining about the change during the playoff run. Now we will have to endure a bunch wannabes trying to get noticed.

I still prefer his "O Canada" above all others in the league. Then again as you mentioned, I think I just got so used to that version and enjoyed hearing it prior to those games.

In time I started to sing with his cadence, but I didn't like that I was doing so. I'm a purist. I don't like additional notes nor do I like an attempt to make it about you in any way. He did, it was ALL about him, but I will have to admit that I liked him better than some of the wannabe (and actual) country singers (too many notes, too much nasal). But some of them were very good, and in Nashville it makes sense to have a variety of singing styles represented. I always liked the barbershop quartets and other harmonic groups because even I can sing along. My range is in there somewhere, right?

I do wish him well, but IMO it was a bridge burning mistake brought on by his ego. Sorry, dude, you were regular season quality, but it was the playoffs and you should have kept your mouth shut except to praise the Preds and the star anthem singers.

So will they have tryouts? I have a daughter that'd like to try and get to do it at least once.

They used to have tryouts sometime in July. Not sure how they're doing it now, since they haven't had a need for them in a few years. You might contact someone in game ops. I looked on the website and can't find any direct numbers but here's a form for contacting them:

I was just coming here to post that- if anyone wants a good chuckle just listen to that interview.

After all this time the guy still is completely clueless and just doesn't get it. I'm not sure if I have ever seen a situation of someone being so tone-deaf, so out of touch.

Interesting.

If his contract specifically stated that he was to sing the anthem for playoff games, not just be compensated for singing the anthem with tickets or money or what have you, and the Preds acknowledged they were violating the contract, then maybe he has a legitimate gripe.

Without seeing the actual contract, though, it's still he said they said at this point.

To his point about the players and how they play the whole year and being in the playoffs is a reward of sorts (violins)...yeah, but every night they can be a healthy scratch, too.
