He was a pretty good depth player for my fantasy team.. hopefully he's just as good for the Oilers! 1.1 million.. can't go wrong! Solid.

Like the signing but I'm having a hard time seeing where he fits in the lineup without taking away from some of the younger guys. Maybe another domino to fall?

Maroon-McD-Strome
Lucic-Drai-Slepy
Jokinen-RNH-Pulj
Caggiula-Letestu-Kass
Khaira
Pakarinen

Awesome.

Checks a lot of boxes for this team.

They are likely anticipating that Draisaitl and Strome will be top 6 RW and maybe flip flop between C with RNH for faceoffs.

Jokinen will be fine as 3rd line C, career 53% faceoff guy.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Love seeing a small shot on a star player and a guy jumping in to protect his teammate.

I hated watching them lose AND get beat up night after night.

Is he still deadly at shootouts too?

So opening night could look something like this perhaps?

Maroon-McDavid-RNH
Lucic-Draisaitl-Slepyshev
Jokinen-Strome-Puljujarvi
Caggiula-Letestu-Kassian

Subject to players like Leon flipping between RW and C of course.

I'm not entirely sure how they'll elect to deploy RNH this season, but I do like that we seem to have potentially 5 C's for our top 9 (McD,Drai,RNH,Strome,Jokinen).

This is the type of deal we need to make year after year. 1 year deals that help the team but dont require long term commitments

Pou, DD and Eberle out. Jokinen, Strome and Puju in. That's an upgrade IMO

I like this, gives us more versatility in the lineup. Almost a betting man RNH is a winger this season.

I think I'd rather see Strome, Slep, and Pulj earn those spots you listed rather than just pencil them in.

Much appreciated man. Seems to fit what others here are posting. Thanks a bunch.

Really incredible signing though, 1.1 mil for 1 year.. He might be getting older but the 3 seasons before last year he averaged 50+ points.. that alone is worth taking a shot on for that cost. Now factor in he is versatile, can pk, and can help Pulj transition, what a steal of a contract

"but how are we going to replace eberle's pointzz????????????" -HFOil

"Hold my beer." - Chia

...

So now instead of Pouliot and Eberle ($10 mil cap) We have Strome and JJ plus Pou's buyout (5.27 mil cap hit). We are unquestionably a better team with lots of room to add talent at the deadline for a cup run. Go Chia!

Maroon-McDavid-Slepyshev
Lucic-RNH-Draisaitl
Jokinen-Strome-Kassian
Cagguila-Letestu-Puljujarvi

The RW situation is quite fluid at this point (didn't know where to add Puljujarvi) so it's difficult to predict lines.

Strome will be 3C from what it sounds like. That's what Chia hinted at, said he's more comfortable there when they talked but likes the versatility he brings etc.

Well, I'm sure you don't mean to have Caggiula as 1RW and 4LW.

Never mind, I see that it was edited.

I had Jussi, Huberdeau and Barkov in my big money fantasy league last year so I had to keep up to date with Florida's situation.

Let me tell you, what a complete gong show mess that place was. The firing of Gallant, moving Tim Rowe behind the bench and moving Dave Tallon to another role destroyed that room. Tim Rowe and his analytic idiots destroyed anything they had going the previous year. When GG was fired, Barkov AND Huberdeau were both long term injuries, the team was almost .500 hockey.

In Jussi's situation he was moved up and down the line up, they relied on him in a checking role more than offensive one. He only started to play better when there was stability on his line and Barkov came back.

Solid player. I like this signing. If given the right minutes easily return to his former point totals. Last year was definitely an anomaly.

The way I see it...

Maroon - Mcdavid - Drai
Lucic - Nuge - Puju
Jokinen - Strome - Kass/Slepy
Caggiula - Letestu - Kass/Slepy

Jokinen takes draws but primarily plays wing. I like the versatility this group has, gives Mclellan a lot of options.

Pulj for sure needs to earn his spot but the other 2 are pretty safe IMO
