Per source, Montreal Canadiens have come to terms with KHL free agent Jakub Jerabek.

Can he play centre?

Edit: seems like a decent offensive defenseman... 34 pts in 59 games this year in the KHL, 5'11 182lbs LHD

He's Czech, so I doubt he'll make Russia's national team.

It may be hard, considering he is Czech?

Bit of info I found searching for this guy

"This guy can play. He was IMO the best Czech Dman at Worlds last year.
Very smart player, excellent first pass, great passing PP QB, responsible defensively.
On the downside, he has rather average shot, doesn't shoot enough and isn't the fastest skater.
Also he isn't very physical player but when he has to he can hit people pretty hard.

IMO he could end up being solid top 4 Off. D, PP specialist."

So possible NHLer, maybe not. He is 26

Also

Don't know anything about him but on paper, looks promising. 0.57 PPG last year, part of the leadership group on his team last few seasons and international play. Not too concerned about size given he is a LHD and would hopefully be paired with Weber or Petry. 26 years old, so he hopefully has a good head and having played with men, will give him a step up compared to typical junior aged players.

I really hope he is as good as he looks statistically and this could be a good move to help Weber out. Markov, if resigned, ideally should play 2nd if not 3rd pairing to reduce his minutes.

Even if he doesn't work out, who cares.

Definitely worth the risk and we aren't giving up assets.

You can't have too many defensemen philosophy going strong, five years running. He didn't cost anything, so worth a shot.

He wouldn't need to be protected in the expansion draft would he?

Hasn't played pro hockey in North America, so I don't think he'd qualify.

Yeah. Trying to get excited by a guy who is seen has having not that great of a shot, not that fast, not so physical and who is 5'10 182lbs.

But I will give him a chance. Don't worry.

He's not replacing a guy whose skillset is nothing like his. If anything he's replacing Brolieu.

Sounds like another Czech defenceman the Habs recently had...

Vid do show very good agility and good instincts though. Doesn'T cost anything to give him a shot.

But please don't put him in our top 6 just yet......
