Fayne seems destined for Bako.

More depth is good. Who plays in Bako? Maybe the Oilers will carry 13F 8D? Sending Fayne down is the better cap move to make.

Often compared to a left handed Rafalski even if I don't think it is very accurate, his offensive play is clearly his biggest asset, I read above that his time in AHL wasn't so good, that's not really true, reading somewhere that he learnt a lot with Kowalsky down in Albany on his defensive play, while trying to fit to NA play.

I lile the signing and he could find success here on PP until Sekera returns. Also i don't think NJD was a good place for his offence to come alive
Exactly this ^

Many here have never witnessed his game. He actually has a nice shot too, He can fire the puck.

People will be pleasantly surprised.

I'll always remember that GWG from a couple of years back IFK was down 2-1, until Auvitu ties the game at 57.25 and then scores the GWG at 59.24. Not the prettiest goals but ah, the memories...

2-2 at 1.00 and 2-3 at 1.15 in the video.

BTW, Auvitu is quite the clutch player.

Although on a whole HFOil does tend to favor whatever deal is made or twist any bad deal into a good trade. Strome for Eberle was discussed pretty heavily months before it was made and universally disliked. Then the trade is made a week after its commonly held as a positive deal
On the flip side, hive mind can just be a buzz term that some people use when they really have a truly awful idea and no one agrees with them.

I've seen people always throw that up in their own defense when often enough, there's a reason no one agrees with them.

Good signing. Chia made 2 shrewd signings in a row.

Auvitu is a very good pick moving dman that moves the puck with little hesitation. He also shoots quite a bit without hesitation. Small sample but he's been good in that sample.

Wouldn't be surprised if Chia is dipping his toes in the analytics field to sign some underrated guys for cheap.

The Oilers don't need a PP QB, don't know why people keep saying this. McDavid is their PP QB and he QB's one of the top PP's in the league. The Oilers need a swift puckmover at even strength, PP QB would be a bonus.

In any event, I like this signing. Avitu stood out offensively in the few games I saw of him with the Devils. He does needs to be a sheltered with a steady D partner but fortunately, the Oilers are at the point where they have the personnel to do this namely a guy like Russell so this could be a sneaky good signing and if it doesn't work out, no biggie.

Even with Sekera on IR to start and a couple of them able to play the other side, it's still too much depth with too many guys around the same age. Something has to give here; perhaps my theory of Nurse now being viewed as expendable is not that far off.
And only a few of them are actually ready for the NHL

Agreed. We have McDavid who is/should be QBing the PP. All we need is a RH shot. Test filled in admirably last year but someone with more of a goal scoring pedigree would be ideal

fair enough.. not a PPQB but a RHS PP bomb option is a need. other than Klefbom we dont have a scoring threat from the blueline.

That I would agree with whether it be a forward or Dman.

Other less skilled players should take note work your ass off and things come around, for Auvito its a 700 k one way pay day

Was hoping for a more experienced vet but this is a neat signing. Getting a hungry player and he's supposedly a good puckmover with good offensive instincts which really fits what the Oilers need. I like it.

We might be walking away from Simpson and\or Leleggia.
Laleggia is not a defenseman anymore. He's a left winger.

bit of a red flag that NJD didnt sign him when they can definitely use dmen but worth a shot for the money and term.

Jersey needs top four, not depth.
Some playstyles need to be sheltered.

And we didn't have to give up two draft choices. Big win!

Iginla I think he'd be okay as a 4th liner with PP time.

But at this point there doesn't appear to be room for him. Maybe a defenseman like Franson would work.

So it safe to say he is Schultz-lite? (The Bad Edmonton version not the Pittsburgh version)
I wonder if they will use him on the PP, he seems to have a sneaky wrister

We don't really have much in the way of offensive talent on the blueline, so if he comes to camp on a mission, he probably would get an NHL spot right away.

I know it's Slovenia, but he looks like he's pretty smart, with good instincts and a good release.

I wonder if this could be used to bring in Stephane Da Costa.

He's a RH C/RW.
He's played the NA game (NAHL, USHL, NCAA, AHL, NHL).
He's played in the KHL the last couple of years. In almost a hundred games he's scored at 1.02/ppg pace.
He played on the same WC France team that Auvitu did.

He's not real big but he seems to be effective.

I think we've got enough tweener depth at forward. The only thing I'd personally be interested in would be a guy like Jagr or Stafford for some legit veteran depth.
