If Petry keeps up his great play in the playoffs, I have no issue with that contract.

Pretty much. Not a terrible contract but not a very good one. But should not be a contract used to evaluate other contracts around the league. There's many dmen better than Petry paid less money. There's 3 of them just in Nashville

That's not the point. I have no issue with the contract either. The point is it should not be used to evaluate RFA contracts. We had no choice to sign Petry and Petry surely used this card in the negotiation as a UFA player.

Comparing players to players is a great way though. Or maybe compare Subbans contract.7

Its a fair contract... According to everyone, so paying a better player cheaper than Petry ...

Subban got less money and term than Slavin at the same age. Despite his apparent incredible talent pretty much 99% of hfboards agreed with Subban's bridge contract because he was not a proven player. In fact most of hdboards still defend the bridge contract.

Anyway we will see. Not saying it's necessarily a bad contract (mostly a calculated risk) anyway but it's kind of rare to see so much money and term thrown at a young player after just one great season unless it's an elite talent who was drafted very high.

Will a Games guarantee be written into the next agreement?

“There will be a raft of things involved,” Fehr said.

“You’ll have salaries, you’ll have cap issues. I’m pretty sure there’ll be issues relating to health care, pension. There may be rules, travel, all kinds of things that are out there. The Olympics will certainly be one, but it would be a mistake to isolate it.”
Sounds like the next cba negotiations should be a real 'blast'.

because he's actually really damn great and that contract can be a steal within a year or two no problem?

The guy is already very close to being a top-10 defenseman in the league, imo.

Carolina's defense is going to be scary as **** this season with Slavin-Pesce / Hanifin-Faulk as their top-4.

Just looked at Claude Giroux's playoff stats.

He's got 62 points in 63 career playoff games (including 23 goals).

And yet, between 2012-2013 and 2016-2017, he's only been in the playoffs twice, for a total of 13 playoff games.

I would gladly have taken a chance on Giroux.

I'd be concerned with his salary going forward, with Price starting his new contract in 2018. A retention of $M 2, 2, 1,1 would make it more palatable. Of course, the assets to relinquish are a big question.

Yes, well, without question Plekanec would need to be included in the return.

Watching PK at the ESPY's brings me back to when I argued he was the NHL's biggest superstar despite very little push from the league itself.

Pretty amazing...good for him.

He certainly is, loved that ESPY's segment. Getting cosigned by Peyton is huge lol too bad it pisses off a lot of "Hockey Guys".

Reason it pisses them off is because they can't stand having him as one of the faces of the league.

Does anyone know who the guy next to Federer is in this picture: https://www.instagram.com/p/BWIgTQ6A...bbanator&hl=en

Whenever I see pictures/videos of PK at different events, that guys almost always seems to be there. Who is he?

Hockey News has a chart of the team's records including playoffs in the 30 team era (2000-01 to 2016-2017).

Wings well in front, second was the Sharks, third the Pens. 30th Florida, Habs were 15th.

Interesting...Mike Cammalleri will make $1 million next season or apparently 75k less then his rookie year.

Same here, easily. The thing is, had MB signed Radulov, he'd have had the flexibility to trade one of his wingers (along with Plekanec for salary purposes).
