Correct. Any contract must be no less than 50% of the highest year, and you must not cut salary by less then 35% in one year.

Example:
7M
4.55M
3.5M

cap hit of 5.017M

The lowest possible 3 year contract having the highest salary of 7M.

It was reported by the Journal de Montreal, not exactly a quality source.

If Streit was offered a contract I am pretty sure he would have just accepted it by now as I doubt many teams are interested in him.

If it's dirt cheap I could care less, Molson has deep pockets.

This wouldn't be an issue if Markov would just stop being a greedy beotch and sign a 1 year deal.

Meh, this isn't significant in any way. Bergie just loves adding cheap D-men with experience.

This wouldn't be an issue if this idiot GM didn't just trade away all of his LD? Markov has this team by the balls. Love it. Hope he milks molson for all he's worth.

Sergachev. Protected Shaw instead of Emelin. So now the best option is streit? Ok keep digging that foxhole deeper.

Incorrect and more BS trying to critize our GM. The Depth is actually decent on D at the moment. We actually lack right handed shooters on D more than we lack left handed shooters on D.

Markov does not have this team by the Balls. We would like him back but for one year at a time. If not, we move on because one way or another we need to prepare ourselves for life without Markov sooner rather than later.

Hope that rumor isnt true. If we want some young people to take care of this team, we add to make them play. Nothing agasint Streit, but the guy didnt crack the playoff line for the Pens. If heís garbage in Martinís book, he is in mine. Lets make Lernout a greater player. I would even give a shot a Taormina before Streit

Shaw is a forward!

I would do that Drouin trade any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Guys, Streit is FINISHED. He's had too many injuries and has been nothing but a liability on the ice lately. Having him as a Markov replacement would be so ****ing bad.

That's clearly not his point...he's pointing out correctly that we are hemorrhaging LD's and haven't signed Markov yet.

I love the Drouin trade and pretty meh on Emelin leaving but I hated the Beaulieu deal and can't fathom why we haven't signed Markov yet.

I'd actually seriously envision Mark Streit in Laval. As a player-coach.

He was a healthy scratch for most of the playoffs, no? He's not returning to our fishbowl, it may just be a convenient leak to put pressure on Markov, who doesn't have an agent. If that's the case, it would be one poor strategy. Markov is a proud man, he won't accept mind games and pressure tactics -- he should have had an agent to help him weed that stuff out instead of just an advisor in Berezin.

What does Shaw being a forward change anything? He's still garbage.

Hey I like Drouin just as much as everyone else but he's not this team's savior. We still have no LD, no #1C and we lost Radulov. One step forward, three steps back.

I'm not a DeFoy fan, he's a demagogue politician posing as a sports journalist and reeks. However, he was the one who confirmed that Lefebvre had an offer to continue on with the Habs when most believed Lefebvre was done.

We may have more players who shoot left than right but we don't have any quality left handed shooters compared to our right. What left handed defenseman do we have that are as good as Weber and Petry? None. That's pretty bad.

???? / Weber
Alzner / Petry
Schlemko / Benn

Markov, Davidson, Morrow, or Jerabek play with Weber.

It's solid.

Not one of those players mentioned to play with Weber deserve or can even sustain 20+ minutes a game.

Maybe Bergevin is endorsing the Pens strategy and wants to use the bulk of his remaining cap space to acquire a no. 1 center and is willing to make some sacrifices on his LHD situation to do so.

Somehow, I doubt it -- Bergevin is a defense-first type of GM, he always said you never have enough D. I wish he would have said "quality D", instead.

Courting Streit, if true, is highly questionable. Begs the same question all the time -- what's the game plan?
