Great shot by Studnicka. Looked better than a few of the guys drafted a couple years ago on that PP.

Damn it's good to watch live hockey again.

My feed cut for a sec so I couldn't see who scored.

I have only rarely heard JFK described to have more than 3rd line C upside. I have more frequently heard him described as a near perfect 3rd line C prospect - and based on that, offense is not going to be where he makes his bread.

He is a very good playmaker, excellent positional guy and was one of the best face-off performers in NCAA in both of his years. Most importantly he takes care of his own end. He is almost ALWAYS the last forward leaving his own zone.

Secondly, comparing JFK to Nash and Moore should almost be considered a compliment.

Riley Nash was a 1st round pick and prior to coming to Boston, was a top-9 guy with Carolina. Perhaps he didn't hit his ceiling, but he has played a lot of NHL hockey.

Dominic Moore has played almost 900 NHL games and continues to be a valuable complimentary forward.

I have also watched JFK live about a dozen times and I guess he might underwhelm you if you were expecting Jonathan Toews or Anze Kopitar. However, if you read the scouting report on him, I don't know how you would confuse him with more offensively gifted players.

Studnicka is looking really good. I was not expecting him to be the best player. Just made a beauty play on the PK as I wrote that.

Thanks. That's a nice program. Interesting bit from the announcer, Lauzon's parents are both doctors.
Hickman looking strong, but that's what you'd expect.

That was sort of my point. I think he compares very well with those two, and it would be great for this team if he's able to develop along those lines. Definitely agree with your assessment of his skills too.

But where I do have to disagree, I've seen him (at least on here) projected as a middle-6 and potentially even a top line guy, with some expecting him to develop along the lines of Bergeron. That's where I was saying those who might be expecting that are going to be disappointed; he doesn't have that offense and probably won't ever have it.

I think positive offensive development for him is much more likely to bring him from a 4C to a 3C, not up to a 1 or even 2C.

He was blazing fast on the forecheck at one point. The Bs were starting to get in a rhythm but penalties killed it. Stud and Heinen were the only forwards who really stood out.

I am with you all the way on this post.

Studnicka looks better than most. Fitzy and Koppanen are playing pro-style game. I actually thought Koppannen was JFK out there. Made some good plays in neutral zone.

Lucky you - I can't judge anyone on the ice between freezes and the poor quality to start

Calling it all a washout from that stream for me

Agreed. Fitz and Kopanen are very good in their own zone and Lauzon looks good. Senny meh, but he's fast af.

I have 4 Providence games so that's when I'm forming some type of Senyshyn book

Agreed, certainly wasn't expecting Studnicka to step in and look better than most of the guys who have been in our system for a while.

Surprised not to see more out of Steen and Senyshyn out there...especially after the show Steen put on at the WJCSS.

Anyone know why they have Fitzgerald playing wing? I assumed they were developing him as a center...is it just a temporary thing given half the lineup can play C, or are they legitimately trying him there?

Lauzon looked bad on the 2nd pens goal but this past period I thought he settled down and made some really good defensive plays.

Koppanen has surprised me, looks solid.

i think one thing is pretty certain with senyshyn - dude can fly. always viewed him as a long-term project, so at least 1 full year in providence is likely.

I'm hoping for the best but when you talk to Sault fans, they really don't believe in his IQ and defensive play. He can fly, he can drive and he can shoot but that's about it... and right on cue he makes a really questionable pass back into his own zone.

And JFK with the goal. Was the Fitzgerald on the forecheck?

Really if they can just get him to be competent at it, his speed will make up for a lot of the lack of skill, sort of like Seguin backchecking under Claude. I also find what a lot of people consider issues with IQ really tends to be the player just trying to do too much...hopefully that turns out to be the case with him.

I'm glad he's finally heading to the AHL where they'll directly work with him on that stuff though.
