Man Timmins getting overlooked again, I guarantee by the end of next season he'll either be #1 or #2 in our top prospects. I get that people don't know a ton about him, but he is far superior of a prospect than Greer. And that isn't a slight on Greer, he is nice prospect himself but Timmins is just that much better.

Add Henry over Martin.

Actually no Timmins isn't getting overlooked at all. I'm not sure how he's gotten the steal label other than Benders rankings but all the legit sources had him as a late 1st-mid 2nd with the BB having him the lowest at 62(Henry 64). He has his strengths but he needs plenty of work on his skating and defensive zone play. He's realistically 3 years away from being ready where a Meloche/Bigras are either ready or only 1 year away.

For the guarantee 1/2 then things would have to go horrifically wrong with Makar/Meloche and our 1st+2nd next year would have to be either traded away or be horrendous choices

Saying all this I do think Timmins will be a solid 2nd pairing D-man but he's further away than he's being hyped as IMO

I also see Timmins as topping out as a middle pairing D. That's great to have, and I like his all-around game, but he does have holes, and I just cannot justify ranking him above the guys who have some post-draft play under their belts until I see how he addresses the holes in his game.

I know I'm in an extreme minority here, but it's JCB for me.

I could actually get on board with that, but I voted for Mironov, so I'm not helping your case lol.

I could co-sign that too.

Timmins is a good prospect but there's been a few vocal voices out there that have hyped him up just a touch. The near ready, no holes stuff is inaccurate. Plus I think it matters that he's already played his 18 year old season. It just means that he has less time to grow his game before he hits pro. But I get the thought of taking a top 4 D here, they are all very close in this tier.

I think Lindholm should be added soon. I know he isn't a sexy prospect by any means, but his game is so solid and quiet that I think he carves out a role... probably higher than Mironov.

JC is ahead of Greer for me but Greer is ahead of Timmins so that's my reason for going Greer

Is Beaudin supposed to be a checking line C or is he more an all-around type?

He can do everything well. He's more of a high IQ 2-way C who has underrated talent. Very good playmaker and a good shot as well. Has shown he isn't afraid of the physical stuff either

Wasn't he actually a bit more physical than expected? He was definitely impressive at the end of last season. It kind of came out of nowhere, because I don't remember a bunch of glowing reports about him in the AHL thread eluding to it being imperative that he be given a shot.

It should be interesting to see who earns that spot next to Barrie. Hopefully it's Bigras, but it's a coin toss at this point.

Also isn't there something out there where he mentions or eludes to not staying in NA for a AHL job?

I'm sure he would prefer to be in the NHL, and won't stay if he's going to permanently be in that role, but I don't really expect that he will be banished there, at least not for long. My guess is Lindholm starts in the A and is the first callup. I don't think they'll keep him in the NHL as a rotational scratch. If he can play the left side he's got a better chance.

I would put Lindholm about equal with Mironov, who is actually next on my list. I'm sure Timmins will win the next round though. It's cool having tough choices for the top ten here.

Lindholm has zero offense too. I still think he has a fair bit of brain farts but a lot of people like his simple, polished game.

JC was 1C in junior for the last two years. Who knows what, if anything the Avs develop into but he should be a good defensive 2-3C. His best attributes are his vision and hockey IQ.

FYI, the polls will take a one week hiatus. Spending $$$ on a resort should get you a good wifi connection but apparently not.

It all depends on how JCB's offense translates to the pros, but he was a Swiss Army Knife type of center on a very good Q team. His versatility is very intriguing. If he can grow into an offensive guy in the AHL next year I bet he finishes way higher on these polls next year.

Disagree fully on your assessment of Timmins. I don't give a rats ass about Benders rankings or the national guys. I go with what I see, and I see I guy with good IQ and a solid toolbox, he probably won't ever be a #1, but could develop into a nice #2 at worst a #3 with offensive upside.

Good for you. With what I've seen his realistic ceiling is a #3 while I expect a really good #4 personally. The biggest question like with Wood is how much will his skating hold him back. Also what I've seen from him he's very good when he has the puck but can get exposed when he doesn't especially by fast guys. The pace only gets faster the higher the level

Makar should unless he gets exposed badly but doubt Timmins makes it.

Heading into the year I'd say the 8 D are Foote, Fabbro, Makar, Bean, Girard, Hague, Mahura and Clague. There will be some who exceed expectations who push for a spot and maybe even a draft eligible like McIsaac, Smith, Merkley, etc

Makar should for pedigree alone and hockey Canada wanting to see him on the big stage. He wore the C at the WJAC just like Jost so he's one of "their guys" too. Helps that Timmins and Makar are both 19 (at the time) and righties. If I had to say right now probably on Makar and probably not on Timmins.

I'll take Lindholm's zero offense if he's even a marginal improvement over the parade of defensive zeroes the Avs have put out there over the years
