Kovelev will never be at is best if he put him with players like murray..or zednik...
He need someone like higgins.. or koivu...
Everyone surely remember in the playoff 2004....Kovalev - Koivu - Zednick
Dang! they were on fire....why is gainey arent put them back together?
Because Zednik is a bum and will simply not play with Kovalev (and vice versa). And also because he needs more then one line that works... I just hope that he will try Perez, Plekanek, Kovalev in a near future...
None of these comparisons are good other than Higgins.
Well both Hull and Kovalev are talented lazy ********.
But about Murray..does Gainey really think he can creat another Higgins for the second line? It`s not like you can creat another one by flipping your fingers. It remind me of putting Mike Hough with Joe Sackic back in the day. That was always pointless. How about just asking Zednik to drive to the net...?
I find this to be an interesting experiment.
Murry is a bang and crash sort of guy.
To me it's not about Murry but just that kind of player.
What will the second line do with one bang and crash guy.
Even if Murry does not score but shows that this line needs a guy LIKE HIM, maybe next year Gainey would get a better bang and crash guy for that line. If your going to experiment then what better team at this point to experiment against.
Gainey and Carbo just might learn something tonight.
At first I thought putting Murray on the 2nd line was a bit crazy, but the more I think about it, I like it.
The problem with a Zednik-Ribeiro-Kovalev line was you had three players together whom liked to hold onto the puck too much (although lately Ribeiro has gotten better at not overhandling the puck). It really wasn't clicking. I'm sure Murray will be told to not hold onto the puck at all, and focus on forechecking, and driving to the net. That will allow Kovalev and Riberio to do more of the playmaking and Murrays speed will also help in the forechecking department and such.
I dunno if it the type of line you keep together for an extented period of time, but it could be a line that from time to time in a game you can put together for a few shifts.
Hey look, it's Duffman; the guy in a costume that creates awareness of Duff!
