GDT - 04/04/06 - Montreal vs. Boston

Boston Bruins vs. Montréal Canadiens
7:30 PM EDT
GAME: Boston Bruins (28-34-13) at Montreal Canadiens (38-27-9).

TIME: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Putting a puck past the Montreal Canadiens' Cristobal Huet has been nearly impossible lately - something the Boston Bruins know better than any team.

The Bruins are likely to face the task of trying to avoid being shut out by Huet for a third straight time when the teams meet at the Bell Centre.

Huet made 32 saves Saturday to defeat the Bruins 2-0. The Canadiens goaltender stopped 35 shots in a 2-0 win over the Bruins on Feb. 4, and made 28 saves in a 3-0 win at Boston on March 9.

Huet's seventh shutout of the season was Montreal's season-high sixth straight win. The Canadiens, who went 10-5-1 in March for their best month in 13 years, are battling New Jersey and Tampa Bay for the final three playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.Huet is 3-1 with a 0.50 goals-against average against Boston this season, and Montreal has won five of six matchups with its Northeast Division rivals.

"Right now he seems so stable and consistent in nets," said Canadiens coach Bob Gainey, who answered "possibly" in French when he was asked in that language if Huet was going to start Tuesday.

Huet has won his last five starts, with shutouts in two of his last three. The third-year veteran has allowed more than two goals only once in his last 10 starts. He's 8-2 with four shutouts and a 1.20 GAA during that span.

"I like to play them, I guess," Huet said of the Bruins. "I think we played another great team game and we have a lot of success against them, but it's going to be another story on Tuesday."

Montreal plays five of its remaining eight games at the Bell Centre, where it has won five straight.

The Bruins looked to be making a push for the playoffs in the weeks leading up to the Olympics, but a 4-10-3 stretch since the break has dropped them out of contention.

Boston, loser of three in a row and six of seven, seeks its first road victory since the Olympics. The team is 0-7-1 away from TD Banknorth Garden since the break and has been outscored 32-18.

"The effort is there and the intensity is there," Boston coach Mike Sullivan said. "We are obviously having a hard time finding the back of the net. We have to score goals and get out power play going."

Right wing Glen Murray was sick and did not dress Saturday for Boston. He has three goals and three assists during a five-game point streak. His status for Tuesday is uncertain.

Defenseman Brian Leetch also missed Saturday's game after suffering a head injury in Wednesday's 4-3 loss in Buffalo. He is day-to-day and also uncertain for the matchup with Montreal.

We're going to need a bit of offense as I can't see Boston playing as bad as they did saturday (they can thank Thomas for the 2-0 scoreline). That said I have no doubts we'll blow 'em out - I'm going with 5-2. Allez les Rouges!

EDIT: anyone confirmed in nets?
