I can get behind a little effort in the marketing, but that attempt was pretty misguided to me. For months they hyped the #ImagineAvs hashtag and associated announcement date without alluding to what it could possibly be for. I remember us speculating that it could be announcing new jerseys/branding, an outdoor game, really anything of substance. Not just a corny music video. I remember with absolute certainty that people around here were p*ssed about the social media buildup being much ado about nothing.

This team has certainly been lacking in the marketing/PR/fan engagement area for quite sometime, and something like this doesn't help with the casual viewer. I say this because I asked some friends to watch that video (without any context as I was genuinely curious) and they all agreed it was pretty bad. Who is your target audience? What are you trying to communicate? What should we/whoever be excited about? The music? The sweaty guys? I guess trying is better than not trying, but this team has had an amazing inability to gain traction with their local populace in the last decade.

At least they tried something. Can't hurt giving it a go? Maybe it goes viral, maybe it goes bust. Literally our club cannot do one solitary thing without people complaining about it.

The problem here is that the early success of our team has entitled fans, and spoiled us.

Now, the clubs damned if they do, damned if they don't.

To be fair, the organization has done a lot of things that are worth complaining about. Or, in some cases, haven't done a damn thing at all (which might be an even bigger issue).

Some of these drums need to continue to be beaten.

Oh and if we're talking about hockey organization marketing fails, don't talk about the Avs, talk about this.

Check out the look on Daniel Alfredsson's face as the "Spartan" exits.

Oh and if you look closely, his lines are on the inside of his shield, which I don't think he could have seen anyway due to his poorly-fit helmet.

Are we still allowed to get excited about the next season if Zadorov signs in the KHL?

Edit: Potentially going into the season with the following d core...

Barberio-EJ
Cowen-Barrie
Lindholm-Mironov/Bigras/Siemens ?

That D wont even crack the 48 point mark

Its really a shame we didnt have a coach, Kariya got hurt against Boston and Selanne's knees were a mess. Did anyone here happen to be at that 2003 opening night game?

Alright, here's some positivity, the new jerseys are on sale. Here's a good article detailing them.

https://burgundy-rainbow.com/2017/09...-jersey-debut/

Quote:
Nathan MacKinnon will the first Avalanche player jersey available for purchase beginning on Tuesday, September 19. This coincides with the Avalanche’s home preseason opener against the expansion Vegas Golden Knights. The player jerseys for Erik Johnson, Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen will become available on Thursday, September 21, when the Dallas Stars pay a visit to Pepsi Center for the Avalanche’s second home preseason game. Currently, there are no other plans to release other player jerseys in the near future, so fans of other players on the team may have to resort to other alternatives.

No Matt Duchene Jersey?

I'm definitely getting a Mikko jersey at some point next.

Anyone know where to get a cheap replica (even if it's in a few months) in either Canada or the US? It's fine if it's a knock-off, actually I prefer that as I don't like giving money to the NHL.

Which player DON'T you want on the team, mate? I'm like the kiss of death for players. As soon as I buy their jersey, they are forced to leave the club one way or the other.

If only they actually were making a Duchene jeresey in that case

Although I'm kind of the same. First Avs jersey I ever got was a Craig Anderson jersey. Got it the during the holidays before he was traded later that trade deadline.

And the next actual jersey I got was last year and I got a Duchene jersey. And now well here we are.

Mack and Rants will be the next two I get though and I dont think I'm going to have to worry about those two being moved for a long time. Especially after they both pot 30 Goals and 65+ points this season.
