Flames vs. Stars

Pierre Gauthier just gave some serious props to our prospects naming Nystrom, Taratukhin, and Trubachev. Saying that we have some great talent coming our way. I think we all knew that but, it's always nice to hear on National TV.

Pierre Gauthier? I think you mean Pierre McGuire, and I think thats the smartest thing thats ever come out his mouth. Taratukhin is very under-rated IMO, and for him to even mention Taratukhin is a surprise.

My bad, did mean McGuire. I was also quite surprised to hear him listing off some of our prospects. He was also talking about Phaneuf up in Red Deer. I also want to give a big two thumbs up to Dany Sabourin for a solid effort. Too bad it came in a loss.

Taratukhin is a worthwhile prospect to mention. Some have compared him to Canucks' centre Artem Chubarov. I'm interested to see how he plays when he comes over.

To me, the young 'future core' of the Flames will look something like this:

"Lombardi, Taratukhin, Phaneuf, Leopold, Kobasew, Lombardi, and Nystrom"

Not sure if the others will make it/stick around, and of course some veterans will be sprinkled in there (IE: Iginla hopefully).

I hope Ramholt can make the NHL. He has HUUUUGE scoring potential.

I just hope Darryl Sutter doesn't unduly dispose of/scare off/otherwise mishandle the European talent in the system.

He has huge potential. As for offensive potential, well, Phaneuf has nearly twice as many points so far in the CHL this season. Ramholt should be a good two-way d-man, I think.

I like McGuire
Did you notice when Leopold took that holding penalty in the 3rd, Mcguire moaned? It was The turning point in the game, we were up by 2, with 10 minutes left

I like Mcguire when he is just commenting about a game, seems very laid back a fairly knowledgable, but gets carried away sometimes (i.e...Forsberg is the strongest man in the world). But I don't like him when he is analysing before the game, waaaaay too hyper...
