Shot Blocking appreciation thread.

Bégin last night in the PK when he gave his stick to Sourray. He was simply amazing.

Bonk has been doing it quite a bit on the PK.

Who else has been sacrificing their bodies for the team?

The defense as a whole has been shot-blocking well. Begin is the team's best shot-blocker. Murray, Downey, Bonk have done well in that regard.

Plekanec and Higgins are so sound positionally that they take away shooting-lanes and force their opponent to dump the puck or dish it off to a teammate rather than shoot.

agreed.

Begin's work was simply amazing.
Did he actually stop one with his left hand?? didn't see any replay...

Murray and Bouillon also sacrifice their bodies a lot by blocking shots.

Bonk also stops many, but mostly with his skates... he doesn't dive in front of pucks as much as Begin.

I block shots all the time. Those darn orange hockey balls hurt like hell.

Ya it was awesome, looked like a decently hard shot too.

Bégin was a monster last night! Rawr!

Seriously though, that sequence on the PK where he blocks a shot, gives his stick to a dman, blocks another shot and then tries to clear the puck with his hand was amazing.

The guy is 100% heart and I'm so happy to have him as a Hab. He's been fantastic for us this year, a great guy to have on the team.

I'll never forget in a game against Toronto this year, the game with all the stupid penalties, on a 5 on 3 Begin blocked a point shot, then got up and cleared it, then limped off to the bench where the bench congratulated him. It was very pleasing to see somebody lay it on the line like that for the team.
