The only way I would be interested in BEt now would be for something like:

Bertuzzi = Zednik

Period.

Wich means that I don`t care much for the ****** anymore. I remember at the trade deadline I wanted him like a madman in a fit, but now I wouldn`t him with the Habs under any considerations. Damaged good.

What about Cloutier? With Halak in the AHL, Long Beach could use a goalie...

Well, I definately wouldn't involve Higgins in any trade for Bertuzzi, but I think the offseason might be a good time for Gainey to try and nab him. His value has to be at an all time low right now, so picking him up in the offseason might not be the worst idea.

edit....I WOULDN'T involve Higgy.

Gainey told Journal De Montreal before the deadline that Higgins is considered a "cornerstone" to the Habs and is not tradeable.

I would translate this as meaning they would only trade Higgins for ONE HELLAVA PRICE.

Really? I see that as 1 sided. Vancouver are looking to get rid of Bertuzzi. He's a cancer to them right now, we'd be doing them a favor. The most I'd offer would be Zednik + 2nd round.

The most important factor in any playoff is hot goaltending.... whoever has that can win the cup regardless of powerhouses....

Nonetheless, we still need 1 more quality D (without Markov in the lineup our team is hideous, if someone takes a run at him during the playoffs and he gets injured, we might as well withdraw from the series) and a co-1st line center.....

I beleive in the Habs chances this year. I also beleive that we are close from a contender status. But our problem is more on the depht chart. We saw this year that without one of Markov, Kovalev and Koivu, we are not the same team.

Thigs might change next year with a more ready Higgins, Plekanec and Perezhogin, but we would still be a better team with one or two big player on the roster...

If the Habs somehow win a Cup this year you still go out looking to improve the team in order to increase the chances of winning it again. I believe Sam Pollock said (as written in "Lions in Winter") that when you reach the top you don't become complacent but you keep on looking to improve the team.

Or...Tiger Woods who said that if you don't keep improving, people will eventually catch up.

Zednik and Ribeiro for Bertuzzi, that would be my one and only offer.

Bertuzzi is a gamble, but I think all he really needs is a change of scenery. Because he's a gamble, no one is gonna give up three roster players to get him.

I would not have made the trade at the deadline cause I think Bertuzzi would have been too much a distraction going into the playoff race, but this summer I would take another look at it. Bertuzzi is a dominant power foward when he is on his game, and is worth the risk. With Latendresse in the system it would be great to have Bertuzzi around for a few years.

I would want to keep Souray and Higgins would be a non starter. But over the summer anyone of Riberio, Zednik, Bullis, Perez, Plekanac, Abeshier could be put into some kind of package deal.
