Unsung Heroes of Game 3

Props definately have to go to Michael Hanzus & Mike Richards. Yes they did not have points, but Hanzus made some crucial plays defensively and Richards had 2 great scoring chances and was all over the ice.

As slow as Zeus is, he still give's 100% when he's on the ice. I love it when he donates the body. But he needs to get his face-off form back.

guys like zeus and richards are the kind of guys that never show up on the score sheet but teams can't win a cup without them

This was clearly a team effort. Dimitrakos played a hell of a game positionally, showed a lot of poise and skill finding open ice in the offensive zone. It frustrates me to see hardly any Fans recognize the contributions of Sami Kapanen. Night in, night out, Sami exemplifies sound and truly smart defensive hockey. With Primeau gone, there is no question that Kapanen is the true captain of this team. In the off chance that any of the Flyers actually read these boards, all Flyer fans should immediately start showing their appreciation and begin campaigning for Kapanen to return next year and not retire because of injuries. I also was impressed with Rathje last night and to some extent Gauthier. In Rathje's case, he made some nice adjustments to his game to compensate for his limited mobility. And Gauthier, while wildly inconsistent, gets props for his totally "old school" brand of Hockey. And of course, their is Brian Savage. While clearly not unsung, Savage was the game's first star. His goal completely changed the momentum of the game. His forechecking was fantastic and he set the bar with regards to finshing your checks. For all you fair-weather Flyer Fans calling for Savage's head, all I have to say is find the archives for these boards. You did the same thing for Primeau and Kapanen when they bought into Hitch's system and look how that turned out. If you want purely offensive hockey, take off your jerseys and follow the Rangers or the Penguins.

Nice to be back after a 2 year absence,

Game 4: Flyers 3, Sabres 2 Pitkanen game winner.

Cheers,

You will never, ever get that from me on Sami. The guy is the ultimate team player and will do anything that is asked of him. I said it 03-04, and I say it now. He can play for my team for as long as he wants and any time he wants. What he does and what he brings to the ice is invaluable.

Agree 100 percent.
ESPECIALLY Hatcher.
He caused goal 1 with a really heads up pass.

So why is Richards leading the team with a freaking -5 and no points?

because he's a rookie and not ready for the big show yet...guys like him is what i was referring to. give richards a few years and he will be quite effective in the playoffs....i never understood why so many people thought he excel in his first year in the playoffs, the fact of the matter is that few rookies do, but of course there are some

give him a few years to mature and you'll see what i'm talking about
