AHL Officiating

Just a question for those of you in the know. Why doesn't or didn't the AHL adopt the two referee system? I have seen many calls that were behind the play missed by the ref because he was focused on the puck and the play at hand. I went to the Providence/Hartford game tonight and the ref lost controll way to early and he blew at least 3 or 4 calls tonight. It just makes sense to me to have 2 refs.

Got to keep costs down in the minor leagues. At least, that is always what I was led to believe.

Majik,

Is it more of the cost issue or the fact that there aren't enough good referees to assign to each game, let alone 2?

The fact that Harry Dumb-a*s is an AHL official is a joke.

The AHL says it is purely a cost issue.

And that's fine by me. I have been opposed to the two ref system anyway - sure fine two sets of eyes yada, yada, yada - has the two ref system really made that much of a difference in the NHL to justify it? Personally, I don't think so. There are still missed calls, extra curriculars behind the play, etc. The game is too quick to catch it all.

It's the ref's job to keep order and also to have his linemen assist. If they let it get out of hand due to their own unwillingness, they bum - no respect for them. If the players are just that outta control then the league/teams have issues.

Well, seeing he's Kerry Fraser's son-in-law, does that surprise you?

You can add F. StLaurent to your list of jokes as well.

Both are sub-par officials when compared to the other AHL referees.
Each should either be demoted to another league or accept a linesman position in the A so they can watch and learn how tro better themselves.
Knowing Dumas, he'd screw that up too!
