Players who are willing to sacrifice

Besides Bégin (and maybe Murray) are there any players who are willing to sacrifice their body for the team ? The answer is a big NO.

Look at the last game BUF: 27 bs Habs: 8

The game was played there.

We have too many Sundstom's and not enough Begin's in this team.

Without Bégin and Bouillon this team is the softest in the league. All pseudo "finesse" players who are not paying the price.

I think Komi and Rivet are ready to do it. Souray and Koivu also. Maybe it's just the other team foward/defence that are smart and skilled enough not to shoot right at the other guy pads or right on him. We made alot of bad shot selection in the recent games. Ryder and Souray in particular. In another way, they are paid and there for this, to shot. No one is perfect and we have to live with what we have and works things out.

Don't want to be negative or anything but, I think it would be time to start to play like one......a playoff team that is...and making it.

Many players are ready to stop the puck with there body, but they are not good as Begin fot stopping puck...I mean, Steve is amazing, I don't know exactly how he stop them all, but he's one of the best in the league. Some player(3rd/4th liner) will jump right in front of the puck...that's their job, but others are paid to puck the puck in the net first...

And for the game against Buffalo is a bad exemple...we were shooting on McKee so he got like over 10 block shots.

I have only seen one player diving to block a shot since Bégin is injured.
It was Murray and he did only once.

I just wish our players would play more desperately. It's like they don't understand the current emergency.

You are totally right !

When I saw Bégin being injured last Saturday against NJ, I knew that it would be very hard to win another game, especially against teams like NJ and Buffalo. So far it is 1-3. And it will be 1-4 Tuesday night. And we will be out of the playoffs.

I've seen Plekanec dive multiple times, Streit, Kovalev, Bonk, Sundstrom, Komisarek and more I'm sure I've forgotten dive in desperation for the puck since Begin went out.

Diving in front of the puck isn't always the smartest move to make you know.

Plekanec doesn't dive very often and is our best PKer.

I don;t want to see a guy like Higgins or Koivu diving in front of the puck to block it...too much risk!

And to block a shot, you don't have to dive in front of it...just put yourself in front of it, and you will block it without getting injured...

True but you know, there are probably more injuries with a stand-up shot blocking attempt than a diving one actually.

Anyway we'll surely all agree that we really miss Steve.

All the 27-8 means is that Buffalo never had the puck.

i agree %.too many perez's and pleks ,bulis',bonks ,koivu's(who's completely invisible the past week!)these are solid skilled platers, don't get me wrong, but physically incompetent, whether thats blocking shots or agreesive on the body, they don't bring it.i understand every team has to have a balance, and trust me, gainey will move away from this identity.we , we need more gainey's and carbs' and jarvis' and i hope we get there soon.we did play a solid game last night, but it was clear as day that buffalo has a very important ingredient that we don't ; true grit throughout the lineup.

We outplayed Buffalo last night and with a bit more luck we would have easily won that game.
