My home village of Ebanaya Pizdukovka gave birth to one of the greatest hockey player in the federal'niy okrug: Mudak Heroviy.

I dont think there was ever a more celebrated "hometown hero". Everyone treated him as a demigod.

I'm guessing he was the one and only product of Floral, Saskatchewan. I think all that is even left of Floral today is a grain elevator. I don't believe anyone even lives in Floral.

As for the best product from Saskatoon, good question. The best name I can come up with is Brent Ashton. Many great players have played here in Saskatoon, but not many were born here.

Rod Langway owns Maag, Taiwan and I'm guessing that no one tops Olaf Kolzig for Johannesbourg, South Africa.

It's early, but I think we can already pencil in Crosby for Halifax.

And I think Örnsköldsvik (Eagle shield bay ) only have something like 35.000 people living there.

Anyone?

This list I made last year doesn't take into account "city" as you requested but it is a starting point since it includes state, province and nation (outside North America). Maybe some have differences of opinions as to the top player who represents the area but this is done by place of birth solely and doesn't take into account factors such as a place of training or (at times) changes in the nation's identity. It is not perfect but here it is:

Canadian Provinces and Territories:
Alberta Mark Messier
British Columbia Steve Yzerman
Manitoba Terry Sawchuk
Nanavut None
New Brunswick Rollie Melanson

Ken Hodge, the first European born player to score 50 goals in one season, born in Birmingham, England is arguably, as good a choice as Stumpy. Also, as great as Gretzky was, my choice for Ontario is Orr.

Guelph: Kirk Maltby? Never heard of anyone else from their, although I'm sure there is.

Kitchener? Darryl Sittler, followed by Milt Schmidt.

How about Tara, Ontario? Home of Fred "Cyclone" Taylor.
I agree with you that Yzerman was better than Potvin.

However, not too many people would agree that Sittler was better than Schmidt. In fact, Schmidt was better by a fair margin.

For Sweden it's gotta be Örnsköldsvik. I'd guess Huddinge is kinda equal but it's very close to Stockholm geographical(sp?).

Eddie was born and raised in Cupar Saskatchewan, he actually didnt play hockey untill late in his life. He was known as the Edmonton Express for his end to end rushes playing with the Edmonton Eskimos (hockey not football )
