can't wait for this series. the Moose are getting some help since the Canucks didn't make the playoffs by getting Burrows, Green and Bieksa back. hopefully Flaherty can perform like he did during last year's playoffs. if so, I think we have a solid chance.
GO MOOSE GO!

The 'x' factor could be the ice surface in Syracuse. Once it gets warm, the ice in Syracuse is horrible (putting it nicely). Goaltending for Syracuse is a question mark. Did they get LeClaire back or are they stuck with Penner and Ayers?

They should stick with Ayers. He's been their best by far IMHO.

Can't wait for this series. It has the potential to be the best first round series this season. Flaherty ussually brings his A game to the playoffs. I may even drive the 70 miles and take in a game or two in the 'Cuse.

JB,

Do you know if LeClaire was sent back? If he was, I would think that he will get the nod in net.

According to the AHL website...

LeClaire, AJ, Delmore, Pushor, and Picard have been returned to Syracuse.

I thought Hartigan and Fritsche would also be sent down, but that isn't posted.

Thanks for the info.

LeClaire wasn't sent back down to sit on the bench. Getting those guys back will help Syracuse out a lot. Flaherty is going to have to play a great series if the Moose are going to advance.

I can't wait to see how this series plays out....I was a Barons fan, so seeing two division rivals duke it out will be fun! Good luck to both teams!

"The clear day list was:

Pascal Leclaire (G)
Martin Prusek (G)
Andy Delmore
Fedor Fedorov
Dan Fritsche
Steven Goertzen
Mark Hartigan
Aaron Johnson
Tyler Kolarik
Joakim Lindstrom
Jeff MacMillan
Marc Methot
Joe Motzko
Andrew Murray
Alexandre Picard
Geoff Platt
Jamie Pushor
Peter Sarno
Ben Simon
Brandon Sugden
Ole-Kristian Tollefsen
Dustin Wood

Prusek is already out for Friday, I'm guessing that means Penner will take his spot. You can swap for injured goalies 1 for 1, but it takes to the 3rd skater to add someone there.

My guess on the lines would be:

Hartigan-Platt-Lindstrom
Picard-Sarno/Fritsche-Motzko
Goertzen-Fritsche/Federov/Simon-Murray
Kolarik-Simon/Federov-Sugden/Federov

(you can dress 12 forwards for the playoffs, so there are 4 full lines, unlike the regular season where you can generally only dress 11).

Alot of this depends on Sarno and his injuries. If he plays, that moves Fritsche to the third line. Which pushes Simon off the third line, and probably moves little Feds to wing and Sugden to the bench - unless Sugden is still hurt as well.

For D I would pair them up like:

Pusher-Methot/Wood
AJ-Delmore
MacMillan/Wood-OK

I personally would sit MacMillan, but I doubt that will happen. Methot will probably actually get sat down, which is stupid, IMHO. If that does happen, Wood would probably be paired with Pusher.

I think they can roll all four lines and pairings nicely with this group. Even the fourth line (with Sugden out) will be good. And Kolarik is key for the pk, so I don't see him sitting.

If skaters do end up needing to be replaced, I would imagine it would be adding Canzenello if D is needed, or Severson or Sgroi if it's a forward, depending on who wants to stick around to see if they are needed. "

If Syracuse needed any motivation to beat the Moose on Friday night listen to the infredibly arrogant comments from the coach. He comes across as being too good for the AHL and calling Agnew out for sending guys out to fight after Burrows blind sided Picard as the third man in. I guess the ex-Canadien coach has tunnel vision and only sees things his way.
And who runs the goalie? Well if it isn't all the Moose players! I think the Manitoba coach is seeing things through his ex-NHL eyes. Pay attention Alain there are two teams out there and the reffing tonight was nothing short of embarassing for the AHL.

The last five minutes of the game there were 2 Crunch players fighting McIver, how is that fair? Alain had every right to call out Agnew for sending guys out to fight because that's exactly what Agnew did. Syracuse just got plain stupid after the penalties that put them down two men twice in a span of a minute. Most of that is to be blamed on Agnew.
*edit*
And the Moose players weren't the only ones running goalies... Notice when Penner came into the game they stopped doing that? They were trying to get Leclaire off his game, and be damned, it worked.

I realize that the Manitoba coach is more interested is auditioning for the Canucks vacant coaching job than telling the truth or the alleged truth. He never played against Agnew, never scouted Agnew or even seen Agnew play. The assistant coach Mike Kelly has played with and for Agnew when they were both at the University of New Brunswick and this is where the Manitoba coach gets his second hand information.
The real nut bar here is Mike Kelly who had a horrible time in North Bay for his abusive actions as the coach and G.M. For example, keeping the players in a rink for 12 hours threatening the kids that if they left they would never play hockey again. I'm surprised that Kelly has landed on his feet in this situation and forget about the Naitonal Team stuff: Kelly is certifiable. His abuse towards junior players is legendary and the truth will catch up with him.
The Manitoba coach on the other hand, will need to coach better than to send Burrows to blind-side Picard as the third man in. And finally, is the Manitoba coach not gutless starting a line brawl when the Syracuse power play unit comes out?
Yes the next shift the Syracuse team did goad the Manitoba players into a line brawl, but trust me the damage had been done. Game five should be interesting.

The Crunch turned stupid in the third period, can't say that about the Moose, they're not the ones that started anything. At the end of the second period, Severson went after Rypien, a guy much smaller then him and Rypien clearly won the fight. Hartigan was the one that started everything with 6 minutes left in the game, he's the one that got the insigator, how'd Manitoba start that one? Pushor clearly went after Bayda oh just because he was playing Pushor hard all night. Bayda doesn't fight! The fact of the matter is that the Crunch lost their cool and thought it would be smart to just goon it up, well they succeeded. Well done Syracuse I say that this entire series has shifted in favour of Manitoba.
