Habs in 5, because even if they win if the series goes longer then 5 games they will be completely drained for round 2.

I don't know, I see the mismatch, on paper, they should kill us (just like they did all season)

Aebischer gets the nod and steals the series - Habs in 6

Right now, I'd rather play them than the Sabres or Devils. The Canes have been shaky down the stretch. They could have won the conference title but blew it. I voted Canes in 6 in the poll but the Habs have a fair chance if Dunham is in goal (I don't know Lehtonen's status) and Erik Cole can't make it back.

Dunham plays for Atlanta, just as lehtonen does. Gerber is Carolina's goalie.

No doubt it is going to be a hard series for the habs, but I think if we can get the better goaltending and our PP and PK can have a good series we could win it.

Habs in 7.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!

Well it comes down to goaltending. If Abby or Huet gets hot we win in 7, but if Gerber gets hot we lose in 5.

I was wishing that the Habs meet the canes and I got my wish.

Consider this.

The Canes finished with a lot of points BUT if you notice
First, The Canes played many more games against week teams and racking up points.

Second, The Canes had the entire month of January easyest of all NHL clubs. of 14 games played in January only 4 played against club in the playoffs and in 2 of those it was Theo and the worst games he ever played. The result was 13 of 14 won, that's 13-1 !!!!!!

Since then to the end, the Canes went 15-15.

SO how many points did the Canes get due to playing easyer teams?? ( maybe 10-12 points )

so I consider the Canes a 100 point team and not a 112 point team.

As for the Habs.

Since Theo has been gone 20-14, and against stronger opposition.
Clearly the Habs are a better team now then with Theo.
SO the Habs finished with 93 points, but you should add a few points as they play better now. ( add 5 points ) so thats 98 points.

SO the way I figure the two teams, it's a virtual dead heat.

the Canes are not as good as thier record
the habs are better then thier record

I can't see a blow out here, it's at least 6 games.
It's up for grabs and that is why I wanted the Canes.

If the team plays like they have the last two weeks, Canes in 6

If Huet stands on his head and the team plays with confidence, Habs in 7

Everytime I've predicted a Habs loss this year, they've won. So...

Canes in 5.

I'll look again like a pessimistic fan but there were 3 teams I didn't want to face in the first round : Buffalo, New Jersey and Carolina. They all beat us consistently and that can become a confidence issue for the team in the playoffs. Out of these three teams, I think Carolina should be the easiest, which is a good news. But considering how they've treated us during regular season, I wouldn't be surprised to see them win in 4 or 5 games. I'll pick the Canes is 6, just because I'd like to enjoy a few playoff wins.

I don't bite into this. Tampa is playoff bound and Atlanta and Florida were close enough to not be considered pushovers. Finally, Washington always puts a great effort on the ice. Compared to this, beating the Bruins 7 times was just a walk in the park.

Think of this, we can thank the Bruins for this playoff spot. No other team came close to give us as many as the 14 points we got vs. them.

We got 3 wins and 2 OT losses against Buffalo. That's not great, but not nearly as bad as the big ) against the Canes and Devils.

I am more scared of the Sabres than the Canes now, but it's just that I overrate these last 6 games of the season.

Gainey, Carbonneau, Koivu and the crew are going to have to sit down and ask themselves if they want to be defeated 8 TIMES by the same team in the same year.

If we get swept or lose in 5 they should be ashamed of themselves. They've seen enough of Carolina to know what to expect. Carolina hasn't seen us anywhere near our best.

The defenseman are going to have play their absolute best and the forwards can't sit back for a second or they might as well not show up.

I guess the last 2 games against Buffalo left a bad taste... A very bad taste...
