Playoff History Vs Each Other
  • 1999 [Dallas wins series 4-3]
Game 1 - Colorado struck first in the series with a 2-1 victory in Dallas.
Game 2 - The Stars clawed back to tie the series with goals from Reid, Zubov, Nieuwendyk, and Modano. Stars went on to win the game 4-2.
Game 3 - Colorado couldn't find a way to beat Ed Belfour all night and it paid as the Stars ran past the Avs for a 3-0 shut out and the 2-1 series lead.
Game 4 - The only OT game of the series ended with 31 seconds left in the first OT period, when Chris Drury kept the Avs in the series, sending them to a 3-2 victory.
Game 5 - In what many Stars fans will remember as the most craziest game of the 99 playoff series, the Stars saw two of their goals taken away and two goals that counted for the Avs that shouldn't of...as the Avs took a 3-2 series lead with a 7-5 victory in Dallas.
Game 6 - After 1 period, Stars fans began to worry trailing 1-0 but goals from Lehtinen, Matvichuk, and two from Langenbrunner escape denver with a 4-1 win.
Game 7 - Stars dominated the Colorado in one Stars fans will say was the loudest game ever at Reunion Arena. Goals by Langenbrunner, Lehtinen, and two from Keane gave the Stars to the victory, sending the team to their first Cup final in Dallas.
  • 2000 [Dallas wins series 4-3]
Game 1 - The Avs started the series off like they did in 1999, with a 2-0 victory in Dallas for a 1-0 lead in the series.
Game 2 - Once again, the Stars struck back in Game 2 with a 3-2 victory.
Game 3 - The Avs retook the series lead with another shutout performance from Patrick Roy, 2-0.
Game 4 - The Stars dominated the Avs in every way of the game, leading them to a 4-1 victory over the Avs to tie the series at 2 apiece.
Game 5 - The only OT game of the series, once again, saw the Stars pull this one out and lead them to a 3-2 victory in Dallas.
Game 6 - Colorado tied the series back up in Colorado with a hard fought, 2-1 victory over the Stars.
Game 7 - A similiar fate for the Avs happened as the Stars struck out to a 3-0 lead. The Avs fought back for 2 straight goals but couldn't get anything else as the Stars held onto a 3-2 victory to win the series.
  • 2004 [Colorado wins series 4-1]
Game 1 - With the series opening in Denver, the Avs dominated the Stars..giving them no room to move anywhere on the ice, and sending the Avalanche to a 3-1 victory.
Game 2 - Things got worse for the Stars as the Avs completely shut down the Stars in every way possible, sending the Avs to another 5-2 victory.
Game 3 - While the Stars barely could move a muscle, the Stars finally were able to generate enough chances and hold the Avs on defense. After being down 3-2 most of the game, the Stars got a late goal to send the game into overtime. 2:11 into the overtime period, Steve Ott rushed down the ice with two Avalanche on his back and put it in the back of the net to give the Stars hope and bring them back into the series.
Game 4 - Colorado continued to shut down the Stars offense and held a 2-0 lead late in the 2nd period. But a powerplay goal by Scott Young with less than 5 seconds to go in the 2nd gave the Stars hope, and Turgeon tied the game up late in the 3rd to send the game into another overtime session. But this time, 20 extra minutes couldn't decide it. Svatos ended the Stars hopes 5:18 into the 2nd OT period to give the Avs a 3-2 victory.
Game 5 - Back home in Denver, the Avs finished it off like they started it with a dominating, and embarassing 5-1 victory over the Stars to win the series 4-1.

I have no idea what to expect, other than amazing hockey.

I'll make a prediction for the hell of it though,

4-2 Stars.

Agree totally,
I expect great hockey, but there is no way I can predict the score, it can either be a shootout or a low scoring grind fest.
Can't wait though, I think this series is gonna be real close, both teams need to build momentum from almost no where, so it can be any teams series at this point.

It's called the darkness music. They've been using it since moving to Dallas in 93. It's a slow meandering tune that's fairly depressing. I like it.

They play that for a bit, and then find something loud to get things going when the puck is about to be dropped at center ice.

Wow, what a let down. Hopefully the Stars can rekindle some third period magic.

Everyone is off their game, slow and sluggish. Terrible passing and hardly any shots on goal. Just get some shots on net! Fore-check not looking so good.

Marty "Cloutier" Turco. Man, I feel for you guys. As a Canuck fan I have seen goaltending squander too many playoff games.

What has Turco squandered though? The Stars have put up zero offense since they scored two. Turco has nothing to do with the Stars taking dumb penalties and failing to get shots on net.

Turco gets way way way too much flak, it's the dallas defense that is crap!!!! the Avs are doing cartwheels out there.

I think next time i'll listen to R&R instead of watching the crap on NBC or whatever it will be next. At least that will make me happy on top of Dallas losing.

I blame none of this on Turco except for the 2nd goal...he has been good all day long. After the first two goals we scored, we just stopped skating. We didn't win any battles to the puck and Colorado kept coming at us every chance they got.

I think Monday will be a different game. The Stars know that if they go down 2-0 in this series going back to Colorado, they can start warming up the golf swing instead of the Stanley Cup over your head stretches.

Turco was not the problem.

Turco was by a few miles our best player. And the 2nd was a bit of mis-comunication with Klemm, so i wouldn't blame Turco much for that

See you guys on Monday.

And I'm sure we'll see a different Dallas team than we saw today.

Good luck on Monday, guys. I've been watching the Stars all season and have become a big fan. They are my "second team" in the playoffs lol. I tried to watch as much as I could in between commercial breaks of the Ranger game today, but I didn't feel like watching a second team lose so I gave up lol. Anyway, hope to see a better result on Monday.
