I know its probably wishful thinking...but what do u guys think of having Kovy on the first line instead of Ryder?

Higgins - Koivu - Kovalev

just a thought...

At least Hogan's daughter was nice to look at. Bret could bring out the sharpshooter and then we would be in trouble.

I was hoping for this many games ago, but it has never gotten a serious look.

I doubt Gainey experiments for the opening game of the playoffs, so it's probably wishful thinking.

[QUOTE=Sakuuuuu]
Higgins - Koivu - Ryder
Bulis - Ribeiro - Kovalev
Zednik - Plekanec - Perezhogin
Murray - Bonk - Begin

Markov - Komisarek
Souray - Rivet
Dandenault - Bouillon

Huet
Aebischer

This is a lineup that can get out of the first round but that's about it. I hope they do. would be great.

but this time next year the Habs will be a much better playoff team.
Higgins 28goals/Koivu 74 points/Ryder 30 goals
Prez 24 goals 20 points/Arnott 30 goals 30 points or like/ Kovalev 30 goals 45 points points
Kost 20 goals/Pleks 17 goals/ Zednik 24 goals
Begin 15 goals/ Bonk 12 goals/ Murray 11 goals
Lapierre 5 goals/ Ribs 10 goals 24 points as a fill in for injuries

Markov/ Komi
Sauray/ D-man
Dandy/ Rivet
Bouillon

Huet/Abby

Now this is a lineup I see for next years first round. A heck of a lot more dangerous to go FAR.

Agreed, certainly next year's team will be a lot better, even if we don't manage to bring in a guy like Arnott. Our kids are coming along, and they certainly won't be getting any worse.

Maybe we'll play the first period with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker just to keep everyone in suspense.

You are crazy if you think Ribeiro will be out of the line-up for the first few games.
Kovalev wants the same line mates so only if that line really struggles will there be drastic changes.

You might think I'm totally loosin it but I would change the lineup completelly. Shake thing up a bit:

Zednik - Koivu - Kovalev -> worked last time we were in the POs
Higgins - Plecanek - Ryder -> Ribeiro is not fast enough to play with Carolina
Bulis - Bonk - Begin (Murray) -> Bring Bulis back to his best performance spot
Perezhogin - Ribeiro - Murray (Downey, Lapierre, Dagenais, Kostitsyn, Dandy)

Alot of options with the last line. might even produce way beter than the second line we have now.

Might be crazy but that's what I would do. To bad I can't sit Ribeiro in the stands cause I would like to put Bulis Centering the second line instead and put Plecanek centering the 4th.

Tell me what you think

I think it is a bad idea.
If you want the Habs to build chemistry on their lines you need to keep them together!

The Habs have good prospects for center but they are 2 years away.
Gainey has to go get one for now and he has a war chest.
In fact Gainey has a lot of option ways to upgrade his team and money to do it. I hate to put it this way but I can't wait until Ribs has to sit because the Habs have even better for second center, but since he is a hard sell to anyone else he is still a center ( filler position) when someone goes down or the third PP center. a million well spent.

Meanwhile back to this year, I love the Habs Canes matchup.
it's a 50-50 shot. The Canes, played many more games against low clubs and also met the Habs with Theo at his worst.
I consider the Canes equal to the Habs but no better.
In fact Ottawa and Buffalo are better then the Canes.
Ottawa and Buffalo have had to play much harder opposition all year then the Canes.

The Sens have just to many gamebreakers even without Hasek, they are freaking dangerous with a huge defence. Hasek might only be back for the final round but that's when the Sens need him.
With Hasek the Sens get the cup. witout Hasek the Sens are in a 50-50 fight in the final.

The only Chemistry I've seen on the team this far is Higgins and Koivu + Bonk and Begin. Other than that there is no chemestry whatsoever and you don't build chemistry in the playoffs, you mix things around until you get it

IMO, I would use those game as a motivation. I would write the scores on the board in the dressing room, so that even Bonk could say to himself : "maybe i'll try to play..."

Remember Minnesota like 4 years ago when we defeated Boston for the first time, they were the worst underdogs, but when playoff come, if "MENTAL thoughness is established in the dressing room, anything can happen... it's just mental guys

I know it seems crazy...but even you must admit that the 2nd line looks better with him not there.
