GDT: Flyers VS Devils

The first real test for the Flyboyz. We are managing to do something we haven't done in a while, Score Goals, both 5 on 5 and on the Power Play.
The Devils, with one day rest, are coming off a 4-0 spanking of the NY Islanders, however have yet to find success at home. Going winless at the Continental Airlines Arena, the Debbies will look to have a big game tonight against a formidable rival in Philadelphia, to please their home crowd. It's very important to get on the board first, like we have been for the last couple of games. Let's go out there tonight and show these Debbies that the Atlantic is our division.

Flyers 2 Amonte + Handzus
Devils 0

Asked this in the GDT for the Panthers game, but is Amonte alright? He left the ice looking pretty woozy after Mezei hit him (while Amonte was trying to get around him, admittedly...it would not have been so bad if Tony hadn't jumped up) and he knocked his head pretty hard it looked like. Any word on that?

As for the Debs tonight, I'd like to see the same level of hustle from the boys tonight. AND NO STUPID TURNOVERS IN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES!!! That's incredibly frustrating to see...they need to do a better job of getting a quick jump on other teams.

Oh, and I figure we'll see Hackett in the nets tonight, since Esche has played the last two (and looked pretty good doing it). Any word on changes with the D (i.e. Therien sitting, Vandermeer playing)?

To beat the Debs, you need to play with the lead. If they get the lead on you, they clamp down, and Marty rarely lets the other team back in the game.

Amonte did come back in that game, so i don't think it's that seriosu, he was probably just shaken up, i guess it looked a lot worse than it was. a fall like that would had me hospitalized, but T-Bone is a fighter...that sweet little give and go with JR was sweet, almost a goal.

Flyers definitely need to put them on their heels early, a quick goal will get the crowd out of it, and then we can clog up the neutral zone and make them beg for entrance. Once important is capitalizing on the turnovers that they make. Special TEam shave to be a big factor for us tonight. I hope Hackett has a stellar game, these are the teams he has to perform against because we will likely need him for all 60 minutes.
No idea on the defensive tonight, i think Therien will play tonight as he is looking a little better than Vandermeer was in his first 4 games.
The puck drops in in 7.5 hours gents.

From today's Inquirer:
"Amonte took a hard spill in the third period, banged his head off the boards, left, and returned.

"I rung my bell pretty good," he said while icing down his left shoulder. "The head hurts a lot more." "

Hope that helps, G.

I'm feeling pretty good about the Flyers going into tonight's game. You couldn't have asked for anything more out of them in the past two games, sure they were playing inferior teams but 10 goals in two games (and only 1 goal against!) is still damn good no matter who you play, and the PP is clicking. The Flyers couldn't be in a better position coming into the biggest game at this point in the season.

If hackett plays poorly tonight do you guys think we'll start seeing esche take the lead role for a while?

D'oh! Usually I'm the one pointing out stuff in the Inquirer/Daily News to people. Sometimes I'm just stupid, I guess. Thanks to all for pointing the stuff about Amonte out to me.

Oh, and here's hoping him and JR keep it going. As has been said, get on them early, then you can keep them from settling into that suffocating defense they play so well.

The Flyers really need to take this one. It was shown last year the difference in just or two points and how important it is at the end of the year, they can't let these slip away.

No prediction, just hoping for a Flyers win.

well, I'm hoping for a Devil butt-kicking tonight by the FlyBoys. it should be a tuff game, both teams really dislike each other. Hackett needs a good game and if he has one, the Flyers should be in good shape to win this game.

I think it will be low scoring, something like 2-1, 3-2 and please, NO overtime!

I get two LW spots in my Yahoo league and I played Kovalchuk and Samsonov. I knew I was going to regret sitting Gagne! Stupid Boston.

Another quick 2-0 lead, let's hope the game goes the same way as the game against Florida.
